Thrifty Car and Van Rental Milton Keynes

Hands down the WORST car rental experience I've ever had. Wish I had read the previous reviews .... accused of non-existent damage and they took my entire deposit. These people are thieves... do not know how they sleep at night. The staff were so rude, and I believe this is how they make their money... by taking advantage of people.

Not likely to use again, most difficult van hire I've had.The Good Bits: Open Sundays, Nice Van, reasonably competitive online pre-book rates (except for insurance excess).The Bad Bits: Broken Website, Charged 3 times, unreasonable ID Checks, joke of a proposal to log into my banks on their PC, no key drop box for returns.Compared to competitors rates the insurance cover has an EXTREMELY high excess and higher levels of No Cover!Will aim to avoid Sunday only hire and go else where. Process felt more complicated and stressful than really necessary. No problem with return of Deposit and Head Office was reasonably prompt in returning payments when website issues were pointed out.

I will say they are Fraud . They took money from my account without noticing me . They come with excuse that I damage the car which I didn’t . Even if I did damage the car , how hard is that to ring someone and tell them you damage our car and we are taking the payment from account . .

Genuine THIEVES! DO NOT USE. Took out a vehicle, days into rental period they call asking for more money insisting how they didn't take the deposit even after I paid more than I was quoted online. I am upset I cannot give less than 1 star - I should of read these reviews boy , would of saved a whole heap of trouble and I would probably still have as much hair as before the rental period.

WORST rental experience of my life!! THESE PEOPLE ARE THIEVES!!Accused us of damaging a tire (There was no visible damage) and stole our deposit of 250.00. Gave us no option to dispute, would not recommend. They never examined vehicle before giving it to us, but went over it with a fine-tooth comb upon returning it. I'm positive the damage was there prior to driving the vehicle off the lot, and sure they will steal someone else's deposit doing the same thing with the same car!!I am absolutely shocked by anyone giving this place a decent review!! Staff were very rude, not nice to deal with at all.I rent cars frequently here in the UK and at home in America- have completely stopped renting from this company because of this experience.BUYER BEWARE!!

Amazing car rental companyI visited to collect a pre booked carIn less than 5 minutes I got my rental car keyThey allowed to leave my car ( offcourse at my own risk) staff were nice and very helpful.Ian ( sees manager) was very good.Out of all the CAR we hired was 9 seater Ford Max - DIESEL - with cruise control - after 9 seats loads and loads of boot space -It is Just amazing.Also, again in < 5 mns I managed to return the carI love to hire frm Thirfty MK again, looking forward to our next TripKeep up the great customer experience- Thirfty MILTON KEYNES

The online booking system does not work, so I had to call them twice to complete my reservation. When I finally completed the reservation I asked them If they can pick me up from the place I was. They said they cannot do that. When I arrived they asked me a couple of documents that prove my address. I spent about an hour in order to collect the car which I only needed for a couple of hours. When I returned the car back, the fuel sign was slightly below. The rude lady asked me to go and fill it up so I did. When I came back, I asked if it is possible to give me a lift to the train station as I had no way to go. Plus I had two luggages. They denied so I had to walk all the way down to the station.The staff is rude and the customer service awful. Avoid this rental office!

Recently used them for a weeks car hire which I give 5 stars = totally satisfiedalthough I damaged the car and expected to pay which was no problem in fact the man who assessed the slight damage (a small scuff/dent) could not have been more helpful'However today tried to check for a price for another rental and their website is 'gobble de goop' AGAIN!! This problem occurs randomly and has done so for ages as shown in other reviews going back at least a year!Now luckily I can wait until they fix the problem again but this gremlin must be losing them customers who when they want to get the best on line reservation price can get no sense of the on line booking facility

Absolutely awful company to rent from. Accused me of damaging a wheel and kept my deposit.I didn’t damage the car yet it cost me a lot of money. Their excuse was ‘it only had 56 miles on it when I was given it to rent’, so to me it’s actually had plenty of miles in which to be damaged.Would never recommend to rent from, I always use Enterprise and have never had any issues.

Good prices and good selection of rental vehicles. The thing lacking (maybe I missed it) is the website telling you that you'll need to pay £250/£750 deposit when you collect your vehicle (returned to you once you return the vehicle without any damage!).
