St John Takeaway

After several hours of travelling to York with our 3-year old, we settled in our inn and decided to eat in instead. There is no receptionist after 6pm in our inn so we decided to call St John Takeaway before placing our order online using the Let’s Eat app to ask them to ring our private number when the delivery person arrives so we can go down and meet them. In the middle of the call the guy suddenly became verbally abusive saying something like we’re idiots and to just come to the shop and pay and hung up! At no point were we ever rude. A lot of our friends will be coming to York. Family and friends overseas will be visiting too and they promised never to buy from this shop after what happened to us.Reply to Establishment: I meant to say the Just Eat app. It’s where I got to know your place. Wasn’t familiar with your shop until I used the app. I read the reviews here and I wasn’t the only one saying how rude the staff is. We weren’t about to call again and engage ourselves for more insults while our young daughter is with is. Yes, that’s the reason we didn’t call back. I wouldn’t waste my time writing a negative review here if that didn’t happen.

You know what took a while to get here but the food was very nice defo be ordering again

Tried there onion burger very tasty with chips and found them really scrumptious and filling would buy again like to try pizza next time

Amazing. As silly as this may sound, but tonight I received Mexican Chicken Pizza. It wasn't rammed with toppings or added extra spices. It wasn't dripping with fat or greese and it wasn't a pizza that was trying to be something special".It was purely a really nice pizza full of flavour. The chicken wings were standard average. Certainly nothing bad to say.This place may just be our next place to go for pizzas. When a pizza tastes better than it looks you know it's a good one."

Need to update the website.Says open every day but isnt, it also lists delivery locations that looking at previous reviews it seems they no longer deliver to.Have had the 20 pizzas before and they are impressive for a party so had planned to get some this evening. Sent round the website for everyone to pick... It wasnt until a friend looked them up on a delivery service app and found it said closed until Tuesday. Luck we made a back up plan for if St. John didnt open at 4 today like the site said.Will remember for future and try again."

Had high hopes. Ordered a collection and the food was out pretty quickly and piping hot. I have only 2 issues with the order. First of all I got the wrong pizza given to me. I ordered a chicken and sweetcorn pizza and instead I got chicken and mushroom. I'm allergic to mushrooms which means that was 11 quid down the drain :((( really disappointed. Secondly my kebab did not come with any sauce despite being advertised so it was a little dry. Please double check the orders you are giving to customers :/ however on the plus side the food was really good and I'm sure if I could eat mushrooms the pizza would be delicious too

AVOID THIS DUMP AT ALL COSTS. Got my order totally wrong and delivered an inedible mess. When I phoned to complain they swore at me and hung up the phone.Edit: In response to the absolute lie the owner of this takeaway has posted in response it definitely was St John's Takeaway as I still have the order receipt on my phone. I also do not drink.Apparently as well as running the worst takeaway ever and having abhorrent customer service the owner is also a liar and a coward who is incapable of accepting legitimate criticism of the way runs his business. He is also obviously incredibly stupid if he cannot figure out that the reason he cannot find my name on his order history is because that's not the name the order was made under. What a pathetic little man he is.

This place is the best for takeaway pizzas! Always arrives in good time and piping hot. Very happy with the food here, price is good too. We will be back. Thank you.

Favourite pizza in York but don't deliver to my address despite not actually being that far away. Should get on uber eats ASAP. Would be my regular if they delivered :(

We used to like going there, food was good, delivery was quick. Ordered last week with no issues. Apparently they don’t deliver to Acomb and haven’t for 3 years so who knows where we were getting our food from. The magic delivery fairy maybe. Unreliable. Won’t be using them again.
