Hoddesdon Library

They are nearly always busy when you need help on computers and whilst you get a hour free, waiting for help takes up time you should have on the computer. Also annoyingly they let people speak on their mobile phones or just be quite chatty in general. Phones are worse. They say no phones downstairs but that gets ignored too. Very distracting. I go there to study and yet it's very tricky. Thought libraries were quiet places. but not anymore. I am very grateful for libraries but let's not be quite so lienient.

Great local library. Excellent resources, staff and welcoming environment for all.The children's section has recently been revamped and it offers a huge variety of books for all ages.We use it regularly and really value it as a free, open access service, as is the case for all of Hertfordshire's libraries and the facilities they offer.

I began using the library service as a junior member, this was during the war, there were few toys avaliable, the radio had only 2 programs, the Light program and the Home service, so reading was really my only form of entertainment. At 11 I was able to join the senior section, and although moving home several times, I kept my library ticket, admittedly I never used it continuously but always kept it up to date. My book of choice has always been science fiction and must have read many since those early days.It's nice to go into the library, pick up a book, find a seat, sit and get absorbed , leaving the hustle and bustle of the world outside.

Love this library, we use it every other week. A great selection of children's books and I have never had a problem finding a good read. Staff are really helpful and approachable and go the extra mile to track down books. I have reserved many books and I found the email alert system really useful.

Although the building is in need of a revamp, what makes this library a gem is the staff and services. Staff are helpful and friendly and the loans and reservations system, including the integration with online facilities, works flawlessly.The children's area at the back is welcoming and cosy.A few years ago when we had a preschooler, we would participate in the free events they held with story telling and activities.Every year, they participate and promote the fun Summer Reading Challenge and the lack of this event this year due to Covid has been felt.When they amalgamated with the post office, I was apprehensive but actually it has boosted their opening hours.We have been users for 8 years and in that time, we must have borrowed over 1000 books for our daughter so they have played a vital part in her literacy.

The staff are very helpful and they have a great selection of books and graphic novels. I use this library often because it's close to where I work. I like how all the Hertfordshire libraries are connected, so even though I live twenty miles away, I can pick up or drop off the books in my home town's library instead. This also means you have the selection of books from all the libraries combined and they'll move them on request to which ever library is most convenient.

Well done Hoddesdon library staff for always giving such super customer service:) you are all always friendly and knowledgeable:) There is a gentleman who I have seen a few times and who helped us today he us always very helpful. They do great activities including a fun lego club, the book selection is good, computers and printers are available it is a great service:)

Came here to read about clocks but i ended up loosing my precious virginity. This would have been the best day of my life but i didn't get to read about the clocks i wanted too and it smelt like old lady. Overall 4 stars. Amen

I went to the library a few times but hadn't realised how lovely and bright the children's library was! It is lovely and airy and spacious, There are more books than I could ever name... I remember childrens corners" libraries when I was a child and they were nowhere near as nice or as big

Went in to use the Computers. It was quiet and there were some available even though I hadn't booked one.Interesting to see that the Post Office is also in there now
