Westgate Surgery

Phoned up at 07.59am to book a hospital referral was told by an answer phone surgery opens at 08.00am. Called back at 08.00am to be told maximum capacity of queue has been reached. Been trying to book a hospital visit via a doctor referral for a heart check for over 4 weeks now………Managed to get through after 90 minutes and the receptionist was very polite and professional. Very good staff just trying to do there best in very tough circumstances

**Updated 03.01.2023**I have tried to call this drs surgery from 8.30am and it's now 10am and still not made it into the queue.I understand it will be busier due to the Christmas period, but this surgery closed on 23.12.2022 and only reopened today, how is that acceptable based on people being ill and having to call 111. This surgery is really the worst. I would avoid I have made a formal complaint to the practice manager and taking it further with the CQC as they aren't really looking after there patients at present.

So this surgery de-registered me without prior warning and notice and did not provide a reason for this. I tried to register elsewhere but was told I needed to get my NHS number from my previous surgery. I called this surgery up and they said they didn’t have access to this. They suddenly had access to it when I started crying and being hysterical. Why? Is it because I have a foreign name? I actually think so.They don’t even deserve a 1 star from me.

I can't understand why this place exist. I went to them to ask book appointment. There was empty in the waiting room. Literally no one. Staff member told me that she can't book appointment. I need to call them if I want to book appointment. And she nicely send me out. When I left I tried to call them couple of times and nobody answered my phone calls.Can someone explain me this nonsense.I was there couple of years ago last time and it was totally different. After this I will definitely change surgery.

Worst Gp in Peterborough. You can be at the door looking at them drinking tea or coffee while the phone rings . When they decide to answer around 5pm there's someone rude, screaming in your ears like you have some sort of problems listening. Even to get an out of hours appointment they can't book it for you, because there's every day no space available. All of this has cause my son to have 2× ear infection that I had to go sit hours at the hospital just to be seen 5 minutes to get the prescription. Today was the last time I called because I am fed up and I am moving to another Gp, after been for a week with tonsillitis can't get a doctor to see me, or anything done . Hope they just close this Gp one day, because they are so useless for a lot of people.

Absolutely a joke! Almost impossible to book appointment! Today I tried from 8:28 to 11:12 (that was 108 calls that I made) and when finally got through was told I should call earlier because they are fully booked… here I am with ear infection, fever and loss of balance and receptionist booked me a phone appointment with a pharmacist!!!! When he finally called he said that I need to see GP!!!!!!! Is this a joke to you?!?! They are useless. Looking to change it.

Absolute shambles and waste of 4 hours. I saw a physician assistant today (who I thought was a doctor as she did not introduce herself before the consultation started). I was asked to go to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription where I waited for 1 hour. After waiting for so long, I called the GP to ask why my prescription wasn’t electronically sent to the relevant pharmacy. At this point, I was informed that I had been seen by a physician assistant and the prescription needed a signature by the doctor- this was not communicated at all. I tried again to obtain my prescription, only to find that this medicine wasn’t even being manufactured currently! Thomas Walker has really hit rock bottom over the last couple of years. GPs are still using COVID-19 as an excuse to be on holiday and not have to see patients face to face whilst other health professionals are getting on with their day to day work as normal. I’m disappointed with the lack of healthcare I received. I am also a healthcare professional and this GP surgery lacked to provide the standards of care.

I was calling since 08:57 am I was in row number 12 when I got to 1 you cut off my call and it was like it was full again and I couldn't join the call worse gp disgusting

Phoned today (9/6/2023) to know about the message they sent me in relation to my blood test.The lady that answered was rude and with no customer service.I don't know who she thinks she is to talk to people the way she does.I suggest to the owner of the Surgery either send her for a customer service course or sack her .....we are paying her with our NI so she can't just be like that to people.If we spoke like she spoke .... I am sure they would ban us from the Surgery.....I don't know her name but for sure the boss knows who worked on option 6 on this date at 11.30.....

When this practice was run by Dr Morgan it was the best in the city. Since he retired and the practice moved in to Boots it has been downhill all the way. I am reluctant to give 1 star. Perfect example of our NHS being run as a business.
