King's Hall

Beautifully kept venue. Ornate and freshly painted ceilings, good number of women's toilets, easy access to it (drop off/pick up points outside for taxis), close to a car park across the road for drivers. Decent capacity inside for events (in the main room), side rooms with smaller capacity and a balcony with additional seating.

Attended Lord Mayor's charity ball yesterday. Beautiful ambience, venue was warm, all facilities were clean. And the event was total awesome.

The venue itself is beautiful and spacious, however the security staff were not very nice. One guard was extremely rude, just standing around and trying to push everyone out the door, shouting at all the other guests who were rushing in helping to clean up the space and clear out all our things.We understood that there was a curfew for the space, the event was already over before then and we were cleaning up until our time. It was extremely irritating when they wanted us out then and there, but couldn’t be considerate of the fact that we were in the middle of moving everything out.This unfortunately ruined the lovely night at the very end, and left the party celebrant in tears due to frustration, especially with the attitude of this staff member.

AN IMPORTANT DAYI’ve had some precious moments of my life in this hall. On 15 Nov. I entered this hall first time to attend my graduation ceremony. I had never seen anything old and beautiful before but just in Hollywood movies.Now, whenever I pass through this hall, I remember some of my moments from that time. The venue is beautiful but the table layout for the event we went to was terrible for someone in a mobility scooter. More consideration needs to be made on how people who rely on these devices can access events at the venue. Wider spaces between rows of tables would help significantly. One row against the walls with three blocks of two rows facing outwards would have worked so much better than 4 rows either side facing the centre.

The staff are really welcoming and helpful, the venue is awesome with loads of history.However the hire costs are ridiculous and that includes cost to local charities, if the council want to empty the venues and drive future booking they are certainly going about it the right way.It's such a shame as this building needs to used and enjoyed by as many people as possible.

Beautiful hall. Went for an orchestral performance and I was entertained.

Beautiful venue. My band played there at an NHS staff awards ceremony for around 400 people. Sound was good, it was clean, toilets were clean and decent amount (I never waited) and the building itself, has some beautiful old features - really characterful.
