About the Business

The National Showcaves Centre for Wales | Voted Britain’s Finest Natural Wonder, and the winner of all major environmental and tourism awards. There are three exceptional caves to experience - Dan-yr-Ogof, Cathedral Cave and Bone Cave. Each cave offers a unique underground adventure. On site there is one of the world’s largest collections of life-sized dinosaur models. Ranging from the ever popular Tyrannosaurus Rex and Brachiosaurs, to the lesser-known Tsintaosaurus. There are over 220 models to see. The Shire Horse Centre offers the excitement of two indoor children’s play areas. We also have the farm experience and our Shire horses are waiting to say hello. With the Iron Age village, the museum and stone circles, you have plenty to see and do for all ages. As we are situated in a National Park, you might like to consider staying on our Caravan/Tenting site for your visit to the caves? And if you fancy a break, there is our Coffee shop, and the Rock and Dinosaur shop, to enjoy.

Well-worth a visit, very well maintained and managed caves. No mouldy smell inside, very well lit & very helpful and friendly staff. The pictures don't do much justice as the real deal... Sincerely suggest a visit, especially if you have kids who would like caves & dinosaur stories. The view from the top is beautiful ❤️

Really well put together experienceThere are 3 different caves that you can wander around at your own pace. Throughout the caves there is commentary from the people who first discovered the caves, so no queuing to read a sign, just find a good spot and look around while you listen. There are steps, but not that many. It was cold inside so take a fleece. The number of stalactites, stalagmites, curtains and flows is not that high compared to other show caves but as you wander you will keep finding more. The second cave on the tour, cathedral cave is probably the most spectacular and also has waterfalls you can walk behind.Possibly the best bit are the dinosaurs, they are by far the best presentation I've ever seen with quite a lot of them having small amounts of movement like heads moving around and tails moving, don't worry they don't run after you. They are also outside in amongst the plants, some of which probably need a trim, but it does give it a more real feel. There are a few in the museum at the end that are more delicate and could not be put outside, and for a bit of fun you can even use a computer screen and projector to colour in one of them with a design of your making.Throughout there is a nice humour like the dinosaur that had escaped last night and been recaptured and put in the naughty corner. And if that wasn't enough, you can do gold panning (fools gold not real gold) and the shire horse centre which is more of a farm with lots of different animals. Finally the shop, a good selection of dinosaurs related things and a surprisingly good selection of socks. The number of people is controlled by tickets and time slots, so it didn't feel that busy which was really nice, but that does mean you probably should book a slot before going, but once in just go at your own pace, there was no feeling of needing to see everything in a set time

Amazing place to visit with kids. Whole day can be spent easily. 3 caves to visit and the Cathedral is the best and most beautiful. The dinosaur park which lead you to the two additional caves help you to climb up to the mountain which gives you a beautiful view for the surrounding mountains. Highly recommend! It worth its price and under 3s can go free. Helpful staff and well looked after place.

Fantastic time here as a couple with a 6 year old. I really enjoyed the history, the little one enjoyed exploring!Everyone loves the Dino's!Great experience but not disabled friendly, though I'm not sure how they could change that inside the caves.

What a great day out for all ages. We were 2 adults visiting. You have three caves to explore and commentary about the morgan brothers is in the main cave, the cathedral cave was my favourite it was magical with the music playing and waterfalls. Bone cave is only small but still worth visiting and listening to the story about who lived in these caves. The dinosaurs are so good and so many to be seen, even as an adult I was impressed. We walked over the bridge to see the waterfall which was stunning. We then visited the Morgan farm and walked amongst the animals, we played 9 holes of mini golf (free) that was fun. Saw shire horses lots for children to do indoor playareas.

An absolutely fantastic few hours! The caves were beautiful and fascinating. It was great to get the train up and down the hill to and from the car park. The effort put into placing dinosaurs throughout the walks around is brilliant. Food was fairly reasonably priced as portions were generous, worked out about £10 per person for food and drink. Would highly recommend a visit for all ages. Tickets do need to be booked online in advance.

Fantastic place to visit in a beautiful setting. Great value for money, so much to see. Took 3 hours to get around everything but could have spent a lot longer. It's definitely worth visiting if you're in the area. Our boys 11 and 16 thoroughly enjoyed themselves as did us Parents. Staff were very friendly and helpful

This is an amazing experience, especially for the price. There are 3 caves to visit and a good walk around the park packed with excellent dinosaur models with movement and sound. My God sons loved it. After that there is a free miniature golf course, a free roam animal experience with interactive elements such as milking a goat model and also a kids adventure play area with scooters, slides and a little tractor course all included on the price. There is also a donation based land train to and from the park from the caves which the littlest loved. Highly recommend the park it's self. Would have been 5* but the food from the cafe was not good, would avoid the baguettes and bring a packed lunch next time.

I have been visiting here since I was a kid. The place is beautiful, informative and fun for the kids. Some of the outdoor exhibits are starting to show their age, but only if you look closely. The cafe offers simple fayre at a reasonable price, and all the staff try to be as helpful as possible. When you visit the farm area, keep an eye out for Ivy, she loves a good scratch behind the ears. The paths are quite steep in places, and some areas are simply not wheelchair or buggy friendly at all, but that is the nature of the attraction, and the place is as accommodating as possible.

A great day out, very reasonably priced ticket as there is a lot included. 3 stunning caves to explore, 2 much larger than the third. A cafe, souvenir shop, lots of dinosaurs and information to learn. The visit takes 2-3 hours, you ideally need to wear closed shoes or trainers, as it can be slippery in the caves. Also a jacket is recommended, as the caves temperature is fairly lower than outside. A very unique experience, we would definitely recommend visiting with friends or family. Highly enjoyable and a lot of parking available.
