We came here for evening meal on route to the North Yorkshire Railway Light Fantastic tour.Car parking was easy with a large carpark although bear in mind our satnav said the pub was up a no through road; in fact the pub was a little further along on the right.There is a wealth of outdoor seating available some of it sheltered should the weather be quite bad.Inside the pub is aesthetically very pleasing on the eye with a decent bar area, pool table off to the left; a large restaurant style seating area is off to the right.The staff were very welcoming showing us straight to our table, taking a drinks order and providing menus. We realised we hadn’t really left enough time to eat and make the railway tour; totally our fault.The wife had a quick word with the staff who put our food on a rush which was amazing of them. Sure enough food was served very quickly and we made the railway tour.The food itself was excellent quality, very tasty and decent portion sizes. The menu was varied and categorised nicely allowing for quick browsing. There were 2 options for vegetarians and a specials board as well.Free Wi-Fi was available with a password displayed at the bar. There is also a comfy sofa seating area just to the right of the bar.The pub is dog friendly which is a big plus for us.Based on this experience I would totally recommend a visit to this pub; I look forward to returning to try some of the other menu options.

3 night stay, loved every minute. Staff lovely and friendly. Room spacious and had everything we needed. Food fabulous. Ate in the bar every night and could not believe the size of the portions, breakfast was just as good. They certainly know how to feed you here. Will definitely be back. Many thanks.

Didn’t know until posting this review that this is also a hotel!A gorgeous dog friendly pub in a great location. Wish we had of tried the food as it looked delicious. Staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Would recommend visiting. When next in the area I sure will be!

Great pub. Very welcoming staff. We had a fantastic meal. A Yorkshire pudding wrap with pork and stuffing. And Whitby scampi, these were lovely and fresh. Good pint of Black Sheep Blonde beer as well.

We just went for Sunday lunch on our way to Scarborough. Food was plentiful hot and tasty. Only downfall was that the Homemade Yorkshire pudding was burnt.

I popped in here briefly with family on our way home from Whitby, we had a long drive and wanted to stop off quickly for a drink.They were immediately welcoming, dog friendly, great drink selection, good prices. SO friendly and helpful, even let me borrow a candle for the small birthday cake I had with me for a family member. We didn't have time to eat but I did see inside the kitchen and it looked very clean and the food looked great.Decor inside was really fun as well, including the tortoise.Will definitely stop in again for longer if we ever go back!Lovely little pub.

Can't comment on the rooms as we were in our campervan. What a fantastic place with really friendly welcome. Very busy and vibrant which is a great sign. The meal we had was brilliant and the menu had loads of choice on it. We actually booked in for breakfast the next day too which again was lovely.Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

stopped off on way to Scarborough.basic menu pies, burgers fish etc.staff all young but helpful.food came quickly.free WiFi.parking can be a little difficult as seems to get busy on Fri teatime.there is outside seating available.
