Dance Base, Scotland's National Centre for Dance

I don’t know a squat about dance and haven’t been there but I do know a squat about excellent consumer service which these folks have!Got in touch enquiring about west coast swing dance and turned out they weren’t offering any but they got in touch with teachers around the area to find me one that does which I really appreciated.

I have absolutely LOVED my first ever experience with Dance Base. I was toying for a few weeks whether or not to sign up for a course or go drop-in, and I am so happy I went for the course. The teacher Jo, for Commercial Beginners is an absolute joy to work with, she's enthusiastic, gentle and funny and makes me look forward to my Thursday evening class every week. I have recommended Dance Base to whoever will listen, and will definitely sign up for a new course the moment they are available next term.

First visit to Dance Base and what superb spacious and modern premises. Lovely welcome at the front desk and excellent tango teacher. Important to me to have a class I can go to during the day - but their whole weekly programme of dance classes is impressive.

I tried 5 different dances at dansebase and enjoyed all of them. The teachers are friendly and they know how to share their passion. You come here for fun, to enjoy yourself, to relax and make friends, not for competition. The variety of dances taught at dance base is really an asset, as well as the possibility to book drop-in classes. My experience there is 100% positive!

I'd no idea this place existed. It's an excellent facility for dance. I'd bought a ticket as a friend was playing for dance but also involved with the overall project...Sketches.

The most amazing place .I have been coming for a few years to vintage ballet.The teachers, friendly desk staff are all fantastic. Just hope we can continue dancing. So good gor healthy body and happy mind.Cant thank you all enough. Fingers x it will continue.

I felt welcomed, as did my husband Craig. I was put at ease immediately by being reassured that I would be able to participate in the group activities at my own level of comfort.. We were both approached by both staff and volunteers, ready to welcome us and invite us to join in. Having problems with quiet speech as a result of Parkinson's, I was delighted to be told that the option to sing was also on offer. i was delighted to hear that! I found the humour that prevailed throughout the class so very refreshing and the whole experience was uplifting .I also found that the accompanying music was both excellent and spontaneous. I will wholeheartedly recommend the class to others

Such a lovely building in an incredible location. They’re located in grass market and you can see a castle right in front. The studios have good size and the floor is brilliant for dancing. Studio 4 has got a lovely view with balcony. I wish London had a same building...!

My intro to dance base was through the bollywood classes taught by my amazing teacher Rajani Ravikumar. It’s always fab to go in the dance class with whatever mood I am on and I just return happy forgetting what was going on with me. It’s helped me to be more happy, more positive. As well as a shout out to the amazing members of the bollywood crew who are all now friends. P.S. there is a clause that you’ll need to think of a cool and hopefully bizarre answer to an ice breaker question, be prepared!
