Southbourne Surgery

The nurses here are wonderful, particularly Maisie and Deirdre who can’t do enough to make you feel listened to and comfortable. Bad experiences with Drs one pulling out her phone mid consultation and another completely dismissing my concerns without checking. I haven’t seen all the Drs, so no idea if this is for the majority. I know my husband had a good experience with a female dr who was about to go on maternity leave- that was pre- covid times and not sure if she returned as can’t remember her name and Dr Courts has always been good too. A third occassion I saw a female GP to check a mole, and she told me off for booking to see her - I didn’t choose who I saw and the reception team knew why I was booking. Based on the nurses it would be a 5 star practice. Sadly I think too many egos run the rest of the practice

I’ve been with this surgery my entire life 34 years. I’ve been trying to get an appointment for a severe pain in my left side. 38 minute wait time on phone lines to still not be able to get through.I used the E consult to Then told a phone appointment will happen 4 days later. Ring if I can not wait.I called them finally I managed to get through 6pm, Receptionist who had absolutely no empathy, and no medical training told me to just go and wait At A&E. Kept saying I would have been given an appointment in 6 weeks. Yet after me repeatedly telling her I could not get through she told me call at 8am. I did call at 8am and could not get through. Never in 34 years have I experienced such poor care. Such poor understanding. I’ve been left in agony and they’ve just shifted my problem to an over pressured A&E.

Been to a few surgeries including ones in Southampton. I have never been to one with such rude receptionists. Been trying to get through to the phone for two weeks about something very important and had no answer. Absolutely appalling

I would put0 if I could. The doctors are great when you can speak to one which is never because the receptionists are absolutely aweful. They never answer, they’re rude and won’t make appointments over email which is ridiculous when they don’t answer the phone. I think they forget other people also work full time and can’t spend hours on the phone hoping someone will answer. Absolute trash

Trying to call but it always says user is busy and hangs up. It’s been days like that at any time of the day. You can never get an appointment it’s so annoying. What are the receptionists doing ?

Better getting through on the phone in the morning now that there is a call waiting system in place so you know where you are in the queue.Recently phoned up with a chest pain. A doctor phoned me back shortly after, I had an ECG at the surgery and a face to face check over from a doctor all on the same day. Very happy with the service received

Doctors are great but receptionists are rude! Also, i called and the automated system said 12 minutes wait, so 45 minutes later still queueing, then got cut off!

The doctors here are lovely! However I’ve been trying to book an appointment for nearly a year for a review of my medication but the receptionists hang up on me every time it’s very distressing.
