I rung McAvoy & Beardsmore for advice on a gift for my dad and honestly said that it wouldn't work very well due to the metal in my original pin badge. but suggested a lovely, handmade idea. The staff were and are AMAZING, professional and really thoughtful in their advice and service. They called me within a week with a quote and I went ahead with it. The commissioned piece was made in two weeks and I am so glad that they recommended their idea - it looks absolutely stunning and I cannot wait to give this to my dad for his birthday. Such thought and care has gone into every part of the brooch and I couldn't thank them enough - I really couldn't - I would most definitely highly recommend this local business to anyone who has any jewelry needs, the staff will be more than happy to help you or even give honest advice. I brought a couple of repairs here as I’d lost trust in a couple of high street jewellers and thought a more artisan approach was the way to go. A much loved and well worn necklace that had broken and a jewel set gold bracelet that had bent and lost a couple of stones. The staff were very knowledgable and kept me informed exactly when they said they would and I was more than happy with the quote. The items were repaired beautifully and on time. I am more than delighted with them both. The necklace is back where it belongs around my neck and the bracelet, well I can’t even tell which bit has been repaired. It is stunning. Thank you.

It was a pleasure to come into what appears to be a very friendly family run business.I received lots of helpful advice from very knowledgeable staff and had plenty of time to ask questions and get advice.I visited the shop to have some jewellery cleaned and valued and was needless to say very impressed. I will be using this business again and would recommend it highly.

My partner and I visited McAvoy and Beardsmore last Autumn to choose her engagement ring. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, bringing out a range of rings (both new and secondhand) for her to try and listening to her feedback to help us find the perfect ring.The service was fantastic, not pressured, and I would highly recommend this jewellers.

The staff at M & B are terrific. They go the extra mile and are genuinely interested and knowledgeable in the products they both sell and repair. I have a small collection of vintage watches, mostly Bulova Accutrons.They have patiently looked at some of my vintage watches over the years - if they can't fix they will know a man/woman who can! In a world of digital watch copies they are a welcome oasis in quality repair of ALL including ones you have to wind up (Yes young readers we had to do that in olden times!).
