The accommodations are horrid, the porters and dining staff are rude. The rooms look and feel like prison cells - unfinished brick walls, mattress, one sheet and a duvet. Industrial carpet that hasn't been replaced in decades. Desk and chair that are in such worn shape that a charity wouldn't take them. Handles on cabinets loose and coming off. You're lucky if they change the sheets once a week. Fresh towels? Maybe three times a week. Had to ask for vacuuming. Community shower is gross, mold all over the ceiling. No shelf to put soap or shampoo. Shower stall is so small that shower curtain keeps sticking to you.The porters are useless if you ask them a question about where you can find something, like an ATM/cash machine. The dining hall staff circle like vultures waiting to grab your plate from you, many times taking my food away before I even realized what had happened. I counted 9 times they tried taking my plate before I was finished. The dining hall manager was extremely rude to me when I took a place setting from an adjacent table to sit with my colleagues, demanding that I put it back and walk across the room to a different table to grab a place setting. The food is decent, but not worth the money you pay. They have the same old thing every morning at breakfast, but sometimes the powdered eggs are so runny it looks like porridge. They looked pained when a vegetarian asks for an alternative meal, something they can eat.If I had known the conditions here at St. Anne's, I would never have come.

The accommodation is just fine. Nothing too special. No daily cleaning arranged. Breakfast is generous as other colleges. Bed is high and narrow. Desk is not very clean.

The English breakfast is great if you like bacon, beans etc. The room was not very comfortable. The bed was too small and with iron springs that you feel while lying on it. For a conference accommodation I expected more.

Very utilitarian. Horrible let furnishings with little aesthetics. Mattress does not fit nicely into bed frame. Felt as if I was floating in it.

When you book for the accommodation remember to book for the en-suite one. I book the cheap one where the toilet and bathroom is outside your room cross the corridor. Avoid booking rooms in the Wolfson building and the one next to it. The toilet is tiny and you can hardly open the door because the sink will block it. No toiletry provided. And there are 3 floors without a lift. It's freezing at night since there's a gap from the balcony. The Wolfson building is very old and not habitable, it should be demolished asap. Full English breakfast is served, not bad. Remember to book a more expensive room that is en-suite.

Don’t stay here unless you really have to. If you have to stay here, go for one of the ensuit rooms and not the single rooms. If you get put into the old Victorian building next to reception (58/60 - the worse building in the entire college), which you probably won’t if you are a normal visitor. But if you do, be prepared to suffer from poor living conditions, extremely poor sound proof (it is very very loud when people even just walk in the room above you). The communal kitchen and laundry room are messy and unhygienic. In conclusion, it is just really really not worth the amount of money you pay.

St. Anne's is a former women's college that has had many notable alumni. Since it's newer than the other colleges, it is a bit further from Oxford City Center. If you stay here as a visitor, know that the price you pay is much lower than the options in the middle of the city. However, there are some drawbacks, including small, spartan rooms and shared bathrooms. But these are all noted on the college website, so they cannot be faulted for this. (Like thoughtlessly giving a one-star review for a Honda Civic for not being a Mercedes S-Class!). The rooms are good for people on a budget that just need a safe place to stay a few days. I would not recommend the place for families with infants -- there aren't elevators in most places, making it a struggle to carry strollers and large suitcases.Tips:- Get the ensuite bathroom option if that's available.- Buy a bus pass for the duration of your stay, which gives you unlimited get on / get off privileges. The bus stop is within a 5-min walk from the college.- If you're headed to Heathrow airport, catch a bus to Gloucester Green central bus station from where you could catch the direct bus to the airport.
