Gary Hawkins BMus (Hons) DipABRSM MISM - Piano Teacher / Pianist

We came to Gary from a recommendation as my son’s piano teacher became unwell and could not teach anymore. My son had started his diploma and it was very difficult to find a teacher that was able to teach him, as I said through recommendation we found Gary, we did have to wait a few months for him as he is normally fully booked. My son had his first complimentary lesson and really enjoyed it. Gary is a fun teacher who makes the lesson fly by and you also get to hear fascinating stories from his time in music school. Gary does not expect you to practice for hours as he said it’s the quality of practice rather than the quantity which suited my teenage son to a tee. My son passed his diploma with a very high merit which he was exceptionally pleased about. I would recommend Gary as he has a lovely teaching style and if you find something difficult he can show you another way.

As a complete beginner I have been learning with Gary since March of this year. His approach is really friendly and I feel as if I have already learnt so much.Gary is really adaptable and personalises what I want to learn / play rather than to just teaching to some random qualification that as an amateur I would never use. I also never feel pressured if I am struggling with a piece or have not had enough time to practice in between our sessions.It is also great to have a teach who is extremely enthusiastic about piano in general and being able to recommend lots of ideas for my home piano setup.I would recommend Gary to anyone thinking about leaning the Piano or developing their skills.

Gary is a fantastic teacher, pianist and and an all round lovely person. Upbeat, happy and so enthusiastic. My son has been having lessons for around 9 months now and really looks forward to every lesson. Gary is very professional but makes lessons fun as well. Gary is very encouraging and adaptable. He has come up with some Fantastic ideas with my son to enable him to fit piano practice in with his busy school/homework and sports schedule. I would highly recommend Gary.

I started my piano lessons with Gary in September last year as a complete beginner. I cannot recommend Gary enough, he is a fantastic teacher, who always puts a smile on my face. 4 months down the line and I cannot believe how much I have learnt! I have constant support and encouragement whether that is through face to face or virtual lessons. The lessons are always fun and engaging, I am able to choose what area of music I would like to learn whilst still being taught the technical elements. Thanks Gary!

I highly recommend Gary as a piano teacher. Very professional, quick to respond, always punctual and fully devoted to his students. His lessons were the ultimate highlight of my week and something I always looked forward to. I loved his open and friendly nature, as well as him being full of energy and always smiling. He was great at explaining and I found he broke things down really well to my level of understanding. Gary's passion for music made me come away from each lesson feeling really enthused, inspired. I have been having lessons for approximately 6 months with Gary. I Have found him an extremely enthusiastic and professional teacher. He focuses on the actual needs of the student and, adapts his lessons to the individuals aspirations. He combines both a professional attitude and a friendly manner. Gary very patiently and kindly teaches me - an adult beginner who is not really very good, although I do love learning piano. He has a lovely, easy manner and fun approach to lessons, which more than makes up for all the gaps in my skills and knowledge, so it's really enjoyable to learn with him. He has also taught a theory lesson to my son. which was fantastic, and much to clever for me to follow! :)

Gary is a wonderful piano teacher and a talented pianist. I begun lessons as an adult with zero experience, but I've quickly made progress because of Gary's expertise. Gary is really friendly and patient, I always look forward to the lessons. I really felt like he took the time to understand what kind of music I wanted to play and identified my weaknesses and helped me overcome them. Really friendly guy, would recommend to everyone.
