Mayday Homecare
I recently gave Mayday a 3-Star review but believe this needs downgrading due to the current disgusting level of care.Despite abhorrent frequent errors I’d like to state that some carers over several years have been excellent, going above & beyond. However, being understaffed leads to rushed, late, or missed visits when covering absent colleagues. The service has always been poor and questionable but since Mayday was absorbed by the Keymen group it has become repugnant, highlighting the disparity and breakdown in communication of care needs for the individual whenever someone new to them has to visit which leads to simple and daily requirements not being met. The new app-based logging system is nothing but issues for carers and family alike. As my Mum is 84 with Alzheimer’s and practically confined to her chair she needs four daily visits, each scheduled for 30mins as per her care package. Whenever her regular carers have time off each visit is around 10mins and insufficient to complete all required tasks (feed/clear up, give meds, take to toilet, etc.)Below are a few recent issues:*Bedtime visit carer told her she was there to feed her despite being there to put her to bed. When my mum told her that she had eaten, carer then left without putting her to bed. This led to me receiving a phone call in the middle of the night as Mum activated her careline bracelet. She was found to be sat on the toilet in tears not incredibly confused and upset which lasted a couple of days. Each time I tried calling the mobile to report this over the weekend the phone was not answered (office is closed weekends).*Medication not given twice by 2 separate carers despite being in care plan.*No shower given for well over a week.*Curtains & blinds being closed all day/not being closed at night.*Worktops left dirty with crumbs, butter, jam, etc.Previously she’s been administered the wrong medication which made her ill and had excessively late visits outside her allocated time-slots have led to my Mum phoning me (when she was able) in tears worrying that nobody was coming. Each time I complained I was promised a phone call if running late, I have never received a single one. When I called the office to register a complaint I was told to email, which I did immediately, and await a response. It took over two months and five more emails to receive acknowledgement over the phone and promises that all these issues would be resolved; a similar conversation which I’ve had each year we’ve used Mayday.Since this conversation and assurance staff had been informed of the issues (four days ago as I write this) things have been as bad as ever. Two days ago I arrived to find the dinner table knocked over and food all over the floor as the carer hadn’t stopped as instructed. She also had no socks on and cold feet. Having spoken to 3 carers they all said they were unaware of the stated requirements, suggesting someone is telling an untruth. Finally, yesterday (a Sunday) I checked on my mum via the camera in her house I realised nobody had arrived to get my her out of bed. This was around 2½ hrs after her normal time to get up so I rang the mobile No. straight away to be told it would be investigated immediately and promised a call back. After 15 mins of nothing I called again only to ring out to voicemail, so I left a message asking for a call back urgently. This never came. I immediately went to Mum’s house to find someone had eventually been, although when I arrived she was sat there with her breakfast untouched in front of her. She was unaware it was there, and even worse, she wouldn’t be able to eat it as they hadn’t put her false-teeth in. By the time I’d sorted her out it was nearly lunchtime.Overall I sympathise with anyone else who is as distressed and upset as my family and I are by this awful, shocking, and in some instances life-endangering, level of ‘care’ provided by this business. I am currently awaiting a call back from a manager following raising these issues today, although on previous form I do not expect it to happen.

Would not recommend this company to anyone (mayday). They lose time sheets so can’t back up their hours then over charge their elderly customers (luckily I have photo evidence) Took it up with Bolton Council and won ! They pretend to clock out on the house phone and are not actually doing (as they didn’t have correct number) Bolton council are looking into them carefully. Unhappy with the service my grandad received . Sacked them off. Manager customer service is appalling !

Have been with this company since mid 2019, 2 years ago I gave a 5* review of this company, what I should of stated is the 5* was for the service that 2 carers give me, they are kind and considerate, they always try to enable me to fulfil tasks wherever possible, the company itself, office staff and seniors, has a long standing endemic issue with them failing to carry out their duties they are paid for. I pay for an agency so when one of my regular ladies are poorly or on holiday or family issues, then they are paid to step up and ensure that all the calls that member of staff are unable to complete are covered by other members of staff, but when a company is running at 140% of capacity and are unable to retain good staff because of how they are treated and run into the ground, the seniors then start looking for carers to cover calls at the last minute, and then as happened to me, my lunch carer left my lunch call at 15.00, and then the carer who wanted to do my tea visit arrived at 16.05 and wasn’t happy when I refused to have the calls just 1 hour apart, and was told well I don’t know who they will get because I am not coming back!! Like it was my fault (she did arrive back at 17.35 and was jolly on arrival) because they are unable to retain good staff good carers leave because of incompetent senior staff and then it is the clients who are the ultimate losers in all this, BUT THEY ARE REALLY GOOD AT ALWAYS CHARGING FULL WHACK. Even when they don’t turn up which shows some dept’s are staffed fully. Maybe they don’t actually check what times a carer has been present and charge full amount regardless? If it wasn’t for extenuating circumstances I would have left the company 18 months ago, sorry I couldn’t go lower than 1 star for the company, but my regular ladies are still 5*
