The Gym Group Oxford Abingdon

Not a bad Gym for the price. But there is a couple of issues. Firstly, the Stretching area, if you workout in the morning don't expect to stretch your muscles. There is only one area, and that area has group classes on all morning. Could easily make use of the space under the stairs. Needs heavier Kettle bells, be preparied to wait half an hour to use the showers Monday - Friday, 7am - 9am

Very solid and spacious gym, especially for the price. The gym is accessible 24 hours a day and offers most standard gym equipment and a good selection of machines.Quite comparable to alternatives like PureGym. The premise is kept very well and clean, with most facilities on the ground floor. Changing rooms are upstairs and you can find bathrooms and showers too.The facilities are bog-standard but well-kept and new. You won't find any special features such as sauna, gym lessons, etc. (to my knowledge).

I finally found the gym that I like!! :) It is a drive for me (25 minutes) but it is worth it. Very spacious, clean, bright and people are all smiley!!! And I think most people are around my age-ish (working, mums and older) :) I find other gyms in Witney and Carterton are more catered to either bodybuilders or young students. Again, I am okay with bodybuilders and young students but it's either the gym light is too dim and the music is like disco/heavy metal vibe or just students that come in groups and you don't know when they are going to finish their sets....It doesn't bother me if the functional area is used for work out classes. Just have to time myself to come at the right time so I can use the functional area if I needed to :)Thank you again for keeping the gym so clean! xx

Really not happy with it to be totally honest!The toilets and showers are constantly dirty like COVERED in dirt and dust and hair. So is the general space usually.And it’s just one big open space with equipment and not very well organised either.To add further-there’s literally just a handful of machines for legs and so but sooo much more for upper body strength. Very much aimed for the use of men only I believe. Having to wait so long for the leg machines is terrible.Unlike other gym groups that also have mini saunas etc.All in all it’s not as clean as it should be and it could have a lot more to offer as a gym. Also the vending machines never work with our Apple Pay!!

My first commercial gym experience. Needless to say I was expecting there to be flaws. The bars aren’t exactly the nicest and the machines aren’t the best. As per the photo, the display on the assistant dip machine implies dips only work your shoulders, but they certainly work your triceps and chest as well.However, the gym is extremely convenient, it is open 24/7, you can check how many people are in it and what the expected capacity is at particular hours. Even if it is busy, there is a large range of equipment and machines, so you’ll always be able to do something.The price cannot be flawed, it seems to be the cheapest gym in the area.

Good value for money gym. Friendly atmosphere. Not the biggest of gyms though.

I joined this gym a few months ago. I am totally satisfied! The equipment is well looked after and its always clean and tidy. Very friendly staff always available and keen to support.

After being at the Bournemouth gym for half a year, I thought I would update my review for this Abingdon gym.Equipment works fine, and I rarely see any that's broken or out of use, in contrast to Bournemouth where it can be broken for months!! Gym is also kept clean to a very high standard, no issues there.Price is slightly expensive, though understandable considering the few gyms that are in Abingdon. Low supply, high demand. And it's arguably worth it considering the place has its own little community and everyone wipes after their equipment.The range of equipment is very good, and provides almost everything you need. It's still missing a few pieces of equipment like the calf press, or any calf-dedicated equipment, but you can still train calves with the right equipment. It's also slightly disappointing that there's only one dedicated barbell bench press. I feel like there's still space to be taken advantage of, but overall it's a very good quality gym.

Not very helpful staff.I visited hoping to be shown around and given advice and help to join.I got let in after waiting outside for about 10 minutes and told have a look around and go online to join.As an older person hoping to get fitter and get advice on the equipment, I was left unimpressed.
