Richard Wainwright did an excellent job cleaning and servicing my grandfather clock in August/September 2021. He is very knowledgeable, having been in the business since it was set up, and personable, providing great customer service, collecting and returning. I would trust him with any timepiece of value.

Excellent.Richard offers a fantastic service, he’s been there for 40 years next year, 2019, so must be doing a lot right. It’s an old fashioned shop - in a very good way.Altered one elasticated link watch strap, fitted a new link-strap to another watch, and sold my mum a lovely clock.Highly recommended.

I took a vintage Omega watch here, after I’d been quoted ludicrous sums for a service by other shops. Really impressed with the service here, knowledgable and they actually looked inside it before quoting, unlike any other shop I’d taken it too. The work did take a while, but he did say that before they started. They fully dismantled, cleaned and relubricated the movement - one part did need replacing but they did this as part of the agreed price - it now runs perfectly! Very pleased and will be taking all my watches here, I’d much rather support local independent craftsmen than high street chains

Outstanding; where other watch repair shops barely considered the job, Richard did a beautiful job restoring my watch after toddler damage and went above and beyond with a new battery. I hope he continues his excellent work for many years as his attention to detail, skill and service are rare.

Twice now I've been in the shop wanting to find cost of getting a watch repaired. Twice he's gone ahead with the work before I've agreed to it.First time I wasn't sure if I'd been clear that I wanted a quote only, second time I was ABSOLUTELY clear..My watch was rattling, and as I handed it over to him, I said I didn't want him to do anything chargeable without my say-so. As these words were coming out of my mouth, he took the back off the watch and said he would have to send it off at a cost £35 to get it watertight again (claiming the seal had perished). Of course the seal had been fine, it's just that you have to replace it if you ever open a watch up.So, when I went to pick my watch up, he wanted to change an *extra* £20 to replace some component (that I hadn't asked to be replaced) telling me it normally costs £35+VAT. (He never bothers with VAT normally.)I said I had never wanted or planned to pay that much and he dropped the extra amount to pay to £10.Long story short, avoid. Google watch repair"

I recently visited this shop to have one of my antique clocks converted to battery-powered. Unfortunately, my experience was not satisfactory as I had to wait for over two months to get my clock back. The service was incredibly slow, and I found it frustrating to have to wait for such a long time for a simple conversion.Despite my disappointment with the slow service, I must say that the final result was excellent. The clock was converted to battery-powered, and it now works perfectly. However, the extended wait time was not worth it, and it certainly affected my overall experience with the shop.Overall, while the clock repair shop did provide quality work, the slow service left me feeling dissatisfied. I hope they can improve their turnaround time in the future, as waiting for months to get your clock back is not ideal.
