Overpriced and stale cakes unfortunately. Bought 4 cakes for £13 got home and 2 of them were stale. Brownie was falling apart and rock hard and the other cake was extremely dry so didn’t bother to eat either of them. Lady serving also wasn’t very friendly, saw me struggling to get in and out the door that has a step with a pram and didn’t bother to even offer to hold the door open just stood there and watched (no other customers in the shop) won’t be going back

We go to this cafe most weeks driving in from Chelmsford food always fresh and most made to order, selection of fresh cake all home made with local flour from Chelmsford. It’s f you want a nice warm atmosphere nice staff this is your ‘go to place’ Joan

Michelle is wonderful always has a smile for the customers always polite, friendly and helpful, the other woman could turn the cakes stale with her bad attitude and rude manner, very rude when asked if I had a mask while she herself didn't have one on nor a hair net whilst making sandwiches and handling food!

Great selection but the bread is stale, as have been several of the cakes I've tried... Same for the freshly made sandwiches. Do they keep the bread when it's past its best until it's all sold? Wish they would up their game because this area really needs a decent bakery.

Just had a cheeky bacon roll and a cuppa tea. Bacon roll was spot on, bacon cooked well, plentiful and the roll was great.

This is my go-to bakery and I have been getting Eccles cakes for years. This time round I wasn't too pleased as the size of the Eccles cake has been reduced and the pastry was overly hard - it was hard due to being sat there all day. Asides from this time, it is a great bakery with a wide variety of cakes.
