A great place to make a stop (rather on sunny days) when travelling M6, just 3 km from the motorway.Nice picnic area by the dry moat.Unfortunately, not so much inside the castle with faded information posters and no access to the river bank (from the castle side). Nevertheless, an interesting place for kids to explore.Great views of the castle from the bridge and Eamont River.Off road free parking nearby the entrance.

Great castle to visit, lots of history. Man in the shop was very friendly and helpful. Toilets are available to the public inside the shop. This castle is pronounced Broom as we were told by the man. Parking is in layby across the road.

We managed to park for free next to the bridge opposite the castle. No wait to get in, very reasonable price and lovely staff. Gift shop and toilets on site.Lots to see and do including walking up the keep to get great views on the Eden Valley, and watching the birds in the nearby lake. Really interesting castle with plenty of information boards around to read.

Definitely worth a visit if you're an EH member. Quite a lot still standing to explore and stairs to climb... if you're that way inclined! Some of them signage has unfortunately faded away, so it would have been nice to know more about some of the areas.

Great visit with the kids. Castle are just perfect places for kids that love to explore! It has a lovely little shop with a few types of mead available for the adults and the usual children's souvenirs. Wonderful ruins to visit. I'd highly recommend it!

Another beautiful English heritage site with amazing architecture and a rich history the site is really looked after. For the best views make sure to go up the stairs all the way to the top( be careful it’s tight and dark)

Great place to visit with a lovely bit of scenery around. There is no car park but you can park right outside on the street which has plenty of room. The tour guide was very informative and the place was great. Lots to explore and look at and you can go 4 stories up to the top for some great views.

The castle is in a beautiful setting near the river. There is enough of the structure remaining to have an interesting walk about. The climb up the tower should be taken carefully as it is dark and well worn in places. The moat is impressive. The Roman ruins are isible in places. The ticket shop has a very good display of the castle's history and is worth seeing before you explore the site. There is also an excellent view of the site from the shop window.

Would have been nice to go in, but it costs 7.50 per person to get in. No wonder there are no queues. It does look lovely from the outside hence the 2 stars. Shame history is only for the people who can afford it.
