Smugglers Cove Boatyard

The idea of staying on a boat instead of your usual travelodge drew us to Smugglers Cove. The document sent prior to arrival made it much easier to navigate and ensure we were prepared. We stayed on Hannah (Boat) that was nearest the slip way and loved the very unusual location and accommodation. If you weren’t aware when planning a visit… it’s a boat, it’s small but it’s very quirky with record player, wood burner, etc. There was plenty of wood to keep the burner going most of the evening for two nights and a honesty box / wood store located within 10 metres of the boat by the showers/toilets. Showers were sporadic with heat but were really nice and clean. Toilets were compostable by the slipway but spotless and no smell at all. The ones near the car park were flushable and also clean. I would be careful for young children as although the dockyard was quiet but it could be dangerous if ran off.. The beach was so close and lush and quiet, like your own private beach. Would highly recommend a visit to anyone.The camping on the sea edge looked amazing and would like to try that next. It was in a cove and very sheltered unless wind was direct..

|AGGRESSIVE OWNER|My dad stayed here he was told names were on the pitch they weren’t without knowing where the owner was he pitched up on an empty pitch. A couple came upset saying it was their pitch as it was late and he had set up he asked if they could share the pitch or sort it out in the morning. The wife was quite upset and went to get the owner. The owner was rude and aggressive pointing fingers at my dad he then proceeded to tell my dad to leave the campsite and started to kick down my dads tent. Luckily my dad didn’t retaliate and start a fight but that seemed to be what he wanted.
