Emperor Nerva StatueGlevum became a colony for the settlement of veterans at the end of the 1st century. The date of foundation of the colonia at Glevum can be fairly accurately assigned due to an inscription on the tombstone of a soldier found in Rome (see below). The inscription describes him as Nervia Glevi or from Nerva's Glevum"
