Shinfield Vets
I cannot recommend this vet highly enough, took great care of my boy when he was really poorly and needed an operation and most recently with a bad ear. The staff are wonderful, kind, caring and super friendly from the minute you walk through the door! Best thing I ever done was move and come to Shinfield Vets!

Outstanding practice. I have lived with pets for many years, and moved house, and therefore vets, many times. Shinfield Vets are genuinely the friendliest and most caring vet I have ever been to.

I can’t even begin to describe the disappointment I have regarding the lack of care towards my beautiful dog. I am currently in France (first day) and the lady that’s meant to be caring for my dogs freaked out at the sight of blood coming from my dogs waggy tail. Such a common thing to happen to a Vizsla. On the phone to the vet I was told my dogs tail was haemorrhaging blood! I’m a nurse and completely unphased by this terminology, however, anyone that doesn’t work in the industry would rightly panic! Exactly what the lady caring for her did! The lady caring for my dog was also told she’d need a stitch and sedation…ridiculous! Injured waggy tails are common with Vizsla’s so I explained over the phone all my dog needed was a fabric elostaplast and to be kept away from hard walls to prevent the wound from opening back up. I was told this was unlikely to work but I knew it would. Funnily enough a few hours later I was told it had worked. The dog carer was now on her way etc. Shinfield vets took payment. Then when my dog was being collected I had ANOTHER phone call, this time telling me that my dogs tail had started bleeding again and the person caring for her wouldn’t collect her. I was told that they wanted to keep my dog in to sedate her and put a stitch in the wound…it wouldn’t make a blind bit of difference if my dog is allowed to wag against hard walls! I handed the phone over to my boyfriend as stress exasperates my physical disabilities and causes me immense pain. He said he’d call them back. Being the lovely man he is he refused to tell me the cost, said he’d cover it etc. but I was adamant I wasn’t risking my dogs life for an unnecessary medical procedure. I found out later they wanted to charge £800! I phoned around begged my usual kennels (Downlands) to help, they went above and beyond, shuffling things around to fit my dogs in last minute. Then I called the vets to let them know the plan before we contacted the lady looking after the dogs and I can’t even begin to describe how rude Amy was! Having a go at me that she’s in the middle (not a place I’d put her in)! This situation has made me incredibly ill. I have several disabilities that are exasperated with stress and I’m currently sat on what should be my holiday dosed up to the eyeballs in medication and still in widespread pain. What I’m most disappointed with is not Amy’s shocking customer service but the absolute lack of care towards my girl and the utter extortion they were trying to con us with! Thank god I have experience in this situation with my dog and thank god I have medical knowledge because without it my dogs life would have been risked under an unnecessary sedation and we’d be £800 lighter! AVOID SHINFIELD VETS AT ALL COSTS!!You couldn’t pay me to let my girl go back!EDIT: this review was NOT ‘the first time we’re hearing of your concerns’! I raised my concerns to the vet twice and Amy multiple times. There were 8 phone calls! The only thing I raised to Amy and in this review was the disgusting way in which I was spoken to by her. This review and my decision never to let another Shinfield vet anywhere near my dogs again would have remained the same wether I’d emailed you directly or not, Jo. I’m done. My review outlines everything I have to say and I have no intention whatsoever of contacting anyone at Shinfield vets ever again.P.s I’m well aware a limited number of google reviews can be deleted per year. I’ll periodically come back to make sure my review stays here and I’ll repost it if needed.

I took my cat, Millie, to an appointment this morning, had such a good experience. Millie is timid & shy, the vet was brilliant with her, very calm, didn't rush Millie it was all at her pace, she was completely relaxed. Very professional, all staff are friendly & welcoming. Highly recommend. Thank you.

Used these vets for years and love how they have cared for and interacted with my pets from birth to helping some die with dignity. The caring card and token after meant the world to us. They are always helpful. Quick to see us when we have had emergencies and the treatment has always been second to none. Would definitely recommend and have done to both family and friends. Top job guys. Keep doing what you are doing.

I highly recommend Shinfield Vets for their exceptional care. As a devoted pet owner, I have had the pleasure of entrusting the health and well-being of my dog Dexter to them, and I couldn't be happier with the level of service I have received. There is a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The staff members are not only highly professional but also genuinely caring and compassionate towards both pets and their owners.

Our dog had started throwing up a lot so we took him to the vets, after some tests and an xray/ultrasound they couldn't diagnose the cause so they gave him some Barium (shows in xrays to help detect blockages)The next day we dropped him back and they sedated him for a second xray.Unfortunately they took the xrays earlier than they said they would, so it hadn't had time to go through his system yet, so the results didn't show anything useful. They then wanted to put him through all that again, a 3rd round of sedation/xrays to get it right this time (bear in mind that this is also costing a fortune at £1000 a time)At that point we decided just keep to him at home and monitor, he seems to have gotten better on his own.

The warning sign should have been the quick appointment availability. Actually the warning sign should have been hearing about other people's recent bad experiences. The receptionist was jolly and pleasant. The vet was ok. The price was insulting. I will not return again
