PureGym Cambridge Leisure Park

I’m currently a member of the gym. The gym’s location is very convenient and I enjoy my time here overall. I gave2 stars because the equipment seems to always be all over the place, there are no hand sanitisers in the toilets and I only one in the whole gym. There used to be 2 cleaning stations for the equipment but recently they removed the one that was in the upper area next to the disabled wc. Very often there are buckets on the floor because of the dripping from the ceiling. It’s a shame because as a gym it has potential to be so much better. The management should look into these issues.

Nice environment. Clean, spacious. Had to wait to use some equipment but good selection. Quality average. Showers cold. Parking NOT free.

The gym has a great atmosphere, it has all the high quality equipment needed and enough that I rarely need to wait to use something, even at peak hours.The staff are friendly and very helpful. They run different exercise sessions during the week as part of the membership to help with proper technique and training form.Overall, really great value for money. 100% recommended to anybody who lives nearby.

Positive:+ Equipment in general is quite good.+ Employee was nice and helpful.+ 24h service is awesome.+ I just came to the UK for a couple of days, so the day pass on-boarding was quite easy to do.Negative:- Can be quite busy at peak hours, which is somewhat expected.- Some people don't return the weights, don't unrack plates or return the dumbbells to the wrong place.- Using towels on the equipment should be recommended/demanded.- Their access pods are somewhat awkward.- No supervision. I understand the concept, but you see people doing some really dangerous (and wrong) moves. You wouldn't leave a pool unsupervised, neither you should a gym.- Probably the worst: their surveys are not anonymous.

I write this review from a place of frustration because I've loved this gym for a long time, it's a big part of my life and I don't want to have to change gyms. But this gym seems to have been completely abandoned; for example, today there wasn't AC, hygiene, music or enough benches (see pictures taken on the 22/08/21 by myself - I also recorded a video showing empty disinfectant bottles and cleaning tissue but couldn't attach to this review).But most importantly: for the love of god, turn on the air conditioner. While I understand the lockdowns have put a lot of pressure on businesses, this is a gym without windows. The lack of AC has become a hazard and it encourages germs such as covid to thrive in this much heat.I’ve also had to stop using the massage chairs (the reason why I upgraded to ‘Plus’) because the warm water on top of the heat makes it unmanageable. Staff have been telling members for months that the AC is going to be fixed very soon"

A wide range of equipment but the gym itself is poorly maintained. Weights are never put back and machines are rarely un-racked. There are signs asking for people to keep the gym tidy but the staff never enforce any of the rules, despite threats of banning members.No windows and air-con is sporadic at best so prepare to overheat. A lot of the staff seem uninterested and thuggish. Sitting around talking to each other rather than taking an interest in what's going on around them.The 'personal trainers' seem to get the lift up to the gym rather than walk up a single flight of stairs. Make of that what you will.Not too busy in the morning so most equipment is available. There is an abundance of cardio machines that more often than not go completely unused. I understand that PureGym are trying to cater to all needs but the weight to cardio equipment ratio seems very askew.
