I bought some ‘flat iron’ steaks in here for Valentine’s Day and not only were they EXTREMELY good value (I bought three at between about 4 and 5 pounds each) they barely shrunk when cooked and were so incredibly tasty. Very easy to cook, perfectly marbled and my BF (it was St Valentines Day) said the only other steak he’d had that was as good was at Marco Pierre White.The owner was kind, patient and helped me choose exactly what I wanted, giving me advice and suggestions on cooking. As it happened, his card machine was on the Fritz but he very patiently allowed me to run and get some cash. Also a good selection of cheeses, pies, pasties etc. Very wide selection of meats to choose from, many of them ready to cook.I’ll definitely be shopping here again and will choose it over the other butcher every single time!

Popped in this morning to get a quick breakfast pastry. I got the cheese and ham slice and it was absolutely beautiful. So fresh!!! The staff were so polite and helpful. Will definitely be back.

Beefburgs and chicken for the BBQ great, the lamb kebabs on sticks were so mouldy when we opened them on the day they were bought they were FURRY! Long trek back to return so both packs in the bin - such a waste of food and money!

The best meat produce around and served by lovely polite and professional staff.The home cooked ham is superb!!

I have been buying my meat from Harold and Donna for over 6 years now and am never disappointed with their produce. Always super fresh and at very reasonable prices. Although I no longer live in Cricklade I make a point of travelling to James butchers at least once per week to pick up what I need. Both Harold and Donna can trace their produce right back to the farmer and is all sourced locally.....superb, would not buy my meat from anywhere else. Thanks to you both!

Great meat products and the best bacon in the world

I have been getting my meat and frozen fish from Harold and his assistant Donna for over 8 years and wouldnt go anywhere else. Most of the meat is locally sourced and Harold knows the farmers personally and butchers the meat from whole carcasses, unlike many butchers now that receive their meat butchered for them. Harold and Donna are always welcoming and able to offer suggestions on which cuts are best for what you want to do.There are so few butchers like James Family Butchers we should all support them as we will be sorry when the only choice is the meat counter at a supermarket or the supermarket shelf where quality and locally sourced are far down the list of importance.

First class meat, pork is superb. Staff are really nice and very helpful. For me it’s the best butcher around.
