The New Inn
Stayed for just one night - sadly - en route to Cornwall. Our room was very large with an enormous bed and fabulous linen. The decor was lovely; calm and contemporary but classic and the bathroom newly refurbished. The pub had a very friendly atmosphere and the food was good, honest traditional fare. I had an excellent burger with seriously good hand-cut chips and my partner had the best steak and ale pie either of us have enjoyed. Mark and Teresa were extremely good hosts and we had a very good chat with them. I would definitely go back and it would be great place to go with a few friends too. All in all it was fantastic value for the cost.Highly recommend it.

Spent a couple of days here. Rooms lovely. Great breakfast as wasvtge evening meal. Landlord and landlady pleasant and hospitable.

Stayed with them one night. Lovely food and friendly staff, food was lovely and in an ideal location. Gave us local tips on places to visit, would visit again.

Beautiful pub had best cod ans chips never had cod like it we met captain the Perrott he's Beautiful we will the pub be co in back to stay in the lovley pub we stayed in a thatched holiday cottage at ridclescomb for a week all stunning x

Went here for the first time with my partner.Very friendly welcome upon arrival from landlord and resident parrot (Captain)The food was amazing and great value for money with fresh homemade specials availableDefinitely going to visit againPictures of foodVenison meatball tagliatelle (homemade pasta) from specials boardSausages of the day with mash peas and gravyWarm chocolate brownie and ice creamSticky toffee pudding and ice creamAnd of course, can't forget Captain the resident parrot

We had a lovely family birthday party in the pub. The staff were very friendly and attentive to all our needs. Good food and lovely surroundings.

The New Inn
Amazing thatched inn dating from the 1300s, with huge character and very hospitable hosts. Stayed a couple of nights for a nearby wedding and really appreciated the comfortable and spotlessly clean bedroom. Great breakfasts, good beer and a 40 year old resident parrot all added to a memorable weekend, and this is a place we will happily return to next time we are in the area

Well run beautiful pub hotel, set in a quiet Devon village. Excellent food, drink and service. Can't recommend this place enough. Even if you are alone at the bar, you can have a chat with captain the parrot
