This place could be great but you don’t expect corners to be cut in this established French restaurant. The service was excellent, our waiter attentive, but little discrepancies with the food were annoying. Nobody likes to feel fobbed off with inferior tinned olives when they’re being charged £4 for Nocellara olives. Left uneaten and pointed out, it was agreed with and we were not charged. The starters were good though my companion would have liked the goats cheese tart warm. My quinoa salad tasty but fresh from the fridge too. My sea bass was a disappointing one small fillet for £22, (would have expected 2 fillets) whereas the salmon dish was generous by comparison. Dessert was a horrendous take on lemon meringue pie. Very artificial tasting and if I didn’t hope for better, I would have to question if the meringue was of the mass produced nest variety with a blob of lemon curd inside, a scoop of ice cream to top covered with aerosol cream and a drizzle of red sauce and 3 redcurrants. A tasteless over sweet construction and not what was expected. The apple tarte tatin was better but again overly sweet. Expensive for what it was.

Total French experience, traditional and tasty! We were seated in a different area for our second visit, not so atmospheric and a little brighter and noisier than our last visit.

A lovely little French restaurant near Covent Garden & Seven Dials. It feels very traditional, in streets packed with chains and restaurants from famous chefs, and it has a good menu of French classics, with good wines. We visited as a group of six and were very well looked after. My beef cheeks were great, as was was the chocolate fondant.

Came here for a surprise birthday dinner on a Thursday around 6ish. Was quiet and cosy at the front of the restaurant where we were seated. The staff were very kind and hospitable! Not much of an atmosphere at the front which was a shame, music was playing very very quietly for some reason which is odd for dinner time. One thing we did notice though is that every person who arrived after us was asked if they were going to the theatre after dinner (this is asked so that they get their food in time so to not run late for the show). My partner and I were going to the theatre, however, for some reason we were not asked this question. I didn’t think much of it but only realised towards the end of our visit that all these people got their food before ours as their meals were prioritised over ours. Our wait time was not too long and our theatre was nearby so no issue came from this, but waiting noticeably longer for our food was a bit irritating. I would recommend that staff should be reminded to ask this of all guests visiting their restaurant at this time.As for food, it was lovely, classic French cuisine. Roughly mid-range prices for the mid-range food, not obscenely high but if you opt for more premium food and drink it can go up. Not shocking or inoffensive for the area so i don’t see this as a problem. My partner opted for a seafood dish with a ratatouille-like base. I had the entrecote grillée, with peppercorn sauce, which came with fries (pommes allumettes). My partner really enjoyed his food and i liked mine too but unfortunately my steak was overcooked. The only rare pieces funnily enough was the last bite of steak I ate haha.We also got the camembert cheese which came with onions and potatoes which i would definitely recommend if it’s on the menu, and also a bread and butter which was delicious of course.I wouldn’t recommend the steak dish I had. There are definitely better places to get steak so if you visit here maybe opt for another classic French dish.If I return here I would like to try seating in one of the other 3 areas of the restaurant, particularly the back room or upstairs which is supposed to feel more intimate.Would recommend a visit but just be sure you order the right things!

Enjoyed the food and service was attentive, it was lively but not too noisy. I marked one star down only because of you have dietary requirements you can be limited on what’s available .

Had a wonderful birthday lunch here. We had beef skirt which was very nice. I asked for medium rare and it came in as exactly what I expected (seems not very common in the london dining scene…)Staff are very warm and friendly. I was surprised by the birthday decoration on the our apple tart. We actually didn’t request, but staff picked it up from my brief conversation and thoughtfully did it - despite they had been busy setting up the Bastille Day decor.Thank you for the lovely experience! Will be back.

Amazing food. Lovely decor. Love the dumbwaiter and ticket system. What makes it even better is that it is family owned and operated. We had the pork shank, duck leg and scallops and shrimp. All simply amazing and perfect. The mixed salads were huge for only 4.50£. Highly and strongly recommend this restaurant.

Went there to celebrate my birthday, and I couldn’t be happier with the meal! Super authentic French food, tastes delicious and cooked perfectly! I was just sad that my steak tartare as my appetiser was so small, but maybe I should’ve gotten it as a main :) I will definitely come back! The onion soup was also really delicious! I think price wise it’s a bit on the high side, but not the most expensive French restaurant I’ve been to. And you get your money worth.

Was told this is one of the oldest french restaurants in town. The food was delicious, and the french onion soup was out of the world!!

Mon Plaisir was overall an incredible find in the Covent Garden area. First and foremost, the service was excellent (Ant, our waiter, was a warm hearted young chap who was incredibly attentive). Also, all the staff are French speakers so it was wonderful to converse with them - this enhanced the authentic feel and ambience of the place. The restaurant itself is interesting in design, with cubby holes and little hideaway areas if you're looking for something romantic. Finally, the food was very good and cooked to perfection. Only slight niggle was that my main dish arrived warm rather than hot - it tasted incredible though. The wine list was more than adequate with some fine reds & whites. Thank you very much for an enjoyable experience.
