Joanne Fleming Design

I contacted Joanne Flemming to order a custom wedding dress for myself. She sent an email asking me to login to a hidden page on her website containing details and terms & conditions of her custom orders. I did this, I was happy with the t&cs so got in touch to arrange an appointment. I got an email saying that she is busy at certain times of the year so I waited and got in touch again when she was less busy. I got nothing back from her. Eventually my partner sent her an email from a different address and was offered an appointment. I drove an hour and a half to attend the appointment. I arrived in good time but when I rang the doorbell to her salon nobody answered. I waited 15mins then went upstairs and rang the bell of the apartment where her seamstresses work. I explained to a member of staff that I had an appointment but nobody was responding when I rang the doorbell. Staff member went inside then came out, escorted me downstairs and I was let into the salon area. My dress ideas were plain and simple and Joanne seemed to quickly grasp what I wanted. She said she would send me some fabric samples in the post and once these were agreed the dress making process would begin. I have never received any samples, I have never heard anything from Ms Flemming and I'm completely baffled by the whole affair. I held off booking my wedding for 6months so that I could have a dress made by this woman but more fool me! She is either extremely rude and inconsiderate or a complete and utter fruitloop. I have no idea why she chose to behave in this bizarre manner towards me, if she didn't want to make a dress for me then why didn't she just say so? The whole business really upset me so be cautious because upset like this can easily spoil the happiness of your plans and impact your confidence.

Joanne made my beautiful, bespoke wedding dress. Joanne's craftsmanship is top notch, you only have to visit her showroom to be wowed by her designs. She was great at communicating, very accommodating and I ended up with the wedding dress of my dreams. Even over the pandemic Joanne was very patient and moved appointments for me at a late notice. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Joanne is an incredibly gifted dress designer. She makes the most beautiful original designs, using stunning fabrics. The whole experience of having my wedding dress made by her was just fantastic: from the initial consultation, the numerous fittings and right through to the final product. I cannot reccommend her highly enough - why pay a fortune for an off the rack design when you can have something custom made that is truely special?

I’m very confused, Joanne’s dresses are amazing and she seemed genuinely lovely, she really seemed to understand my ideas....However after the first consultation i was told I would hear back from her in about a week... but I haven’t heard anything back, almost 3 months later I have sent several emails and it appears that I am being ignored? I have since looked up some more reviews on Joanne on google and it seems like she does this A LOT.... I wouldn’t recommend using her services just incase you become one of the unlucky ones.I am incredibly disappointed as I explained to Joanne that I was having trouble finding a dress and wasn’t feeling excitement until I saw her designs. I wish she would have told me at the first consultation that she was not interested in making me a dress so that I didn’t waste my time waiting, when I could have been finding a dress elsewhere.

Doesn't respond to emails. Just because I'm not a famous YouTuber or Celebrity doesn't mean I don't deserve a response. She's only interested in making dresses for clients with big followings and shows no respect to normal people who would happily pay the money for one of gorgeous dresses but she's not interested in nobodies". Rude and I would recommend going elsewhere to avoid the mind games."

Joanne did such a fantastic job with my wedding dress, I couldn't have been happier with it! It was everything I was hoping it would be. I felt fantastic on the day, and nobody could get over how beautiful the dress was! Joanne herself is very friendly and creative, and my family and I very much enjoyed our trips to her gorgeous little studio in Brighton for fittings. Thank you so much, Jo! xxx

It has taken me 3 years to feel able to write this review. Joanne Fleming's' dresses are absolutely stunning, she is a true artist and that I do not dispute, its the reason I chose to have a Joanne Fleming dress.If you want one of her designs off the peg, she's probably going to do a great job.I wanted a bespoke dress based on one of her designs & the process was so stressful & painful that I regret choosing her. She did not listen to me, the fittings were short and felt dismissive, she ignored my emails. After each fitting I felt uneasy, I knew my comments had not been heard. At the last fitting I was not happy. I have a slim figure but a larger bust, I had clearly asked for my bodice to be darted to pull in under the bust and it was not, I pressed the point at final fitting and in response rather than re-making the bodice which was what was really needed she darted the existing bodice which pulled it so low I could not wear a bra and felt uncomfortable about the amount of cleavage I showed on my wedding day.The original design was pannier but I wanted a full circle skirt but she did not listen to this and despite my commenting at repeated fittings I ended up with an uneven hem which again bothered me on the day.When my dress was delivered it was incorrectly finished necessitating me taking a train from the Midlands to Brighton to have it corrected the week before my wedding, £80 and unnecessary stress I did not need & Joanne made no offer to compensate me for this.After the event Joanne sourced photos of my wedding from my wedding photographer without my permission and posted them ... she got my husbands name wrong.It turned out the design of dress I had to fight her tooth and nail to create was actually quite good. So much so she added it to her standard range. She did not speak to me about that or reference me. Shes legally entitled to do that of course but courtesy costs nothing

I have never written a negative review before, but am sharing this in the hopes that it saves someone a huge headache.Before giving my deposit for a wedding dress, Joanne was quick to respond to my inquiries. She sent me fabric samples to choose from, and put together a catered “dressing room” for me on her website. Despite hesitancy after reading previous reviews, I decided to move forward with a wedding dress purchase a year ahead of my wedding (not a custom design, just one of her existing patterns in a fabric color I selected). After giving my deposit, she stopped responding to all forms of communication. About 6 months in, I accepted that I had been ghosted and used PayPal’s dispute system to attempt to get my deposit back. Shortly after initiating this, I received a lengthy email from Joanne apologizing for the lack of communication and reassurance that she was planning to make the dress and would keep me posted. I canceled the dispute, and sure enough I haven’t heard from her since. It has been another 6 months, and I am two days out from my wedding. No refund of my deposit, no acknowledgement of my attempts at contact. I had to move forward with purchasing another dress elsewhere.Trust me, you do not want to be in this situation. Planning a wedding is difficult enough, it is demoralizing to become attached to a particular look and make design decisions for decor, flowers, etc. around it and have it fall through without a clear point of resolution. And to have the experience of excitedly sharing your chosen dress with friends and family, and later have the embarrassment of needing to explain to them that you were scammed. It has really soured what should have been a joyful experience.

I have had the privilege to both photograph Jo's collections and wear her wonderful creations over the last few years. Her work is incredible and her talent knows no bounds, She can look at bride and no instinctively what will work best for her. So may of the brides I have photographed have been deirously happy with the end result.
