Excellent experience with D.A. Reid property surveyors. Was able to get a prompt appointment and Doug was honest about what type of survey would be best. Very thorough report at reasonable prices. We have since moved in and have used the report to re-explore the property and direct sensible questions to the management company. Only slight downside is it can sometimes be difficult to get hold of them via email, but always get prompt response on the phone. Thanks, team!

I was so excited to be informed by my agent that a survey had been arranged to sell the family home.The following morning the door bell rang and looking through the bay window I noticed a peculiar middle aged man. The surveyor had arrived! As soon as I opened the door the fist comment was 'the wiring to the door bell is not right! Not right! I spent nearly 80.00 buying the Jingle doorbell from Wayfair. He made a note of this in his little red Collins note book. Not very professional ! Then he took his cheap plastic shoes off and put on a pair of tartan slippers. Is this normal? I did find him mildly eccentric.I asked him would the survey take long. He replied yes a few hours as he needed to find as many faults as possible. I thought that was a joke but far from it. The kitchen (which cost over 10K) was not to his liking, The lights were too bright. I thought I failed on EU Energy output. The water too cold. Is this really necessary for a Home Buyers Survey? He said it was 'very important'. The to the reception area. He said I needed rewiring. By just looking with no inspection. I asked him did he have any electrical knowledge he said no but he could tell by looking. Amazed and speechless!! Then the chimney. He said it would fail the inspection. Fail?I asked him would he conduct smoke test or flue mapping.He hadn't heard of flue mapping!! I was getting very worried.Then he started talking about his concerns with preventing legal problems and he said he would need to be very critical in his report because of claims which can be made against him.By this point the chances of my sale were dropping by the second. To the bathroom the bath was not safe. Not safe? The shower was too powerful for EU guidelines. How could he say that without testing the waterflow? Then the roof was a health hazard. Asbestos causes deaths. My family home a potential death trap now. Next to my bedroom and he started looking through my drawers (I was worried that he may take my expensive Pearl underwear). He even said he needed to do this to check for termite infestation. Now I knew that this house will never be sold.If you ever get a visit from this firm you can guarantee your home will never be sold.

Very thorough and in depth report carried out by Doug. Very knowledgeable, and has taken his time carrying out a full survey to a high standard.Fair priced and received reports promptly.

I cannot recommend D.A Reid Surveyors enough. I talked with Doug several times before my survey and he was always extremely helpful and had lots of useful information. I had a couple of items I wanted him to look at specifically and he was only to happy to do so.
