Glenlivet Dark Sky Discovery Car Park

Had seen signs for this area / car park many times and last night took the plunge after dark to go up here. I've used the Speyside National trail many times as wonderful dog walk during daylight hours but did not appreciate the beauty of a 'Dark sky' area. It is very disconcerting leaving the street lights of Glenlivet distillery area and walking into the nothingness of darkness. Ten minutes later and eyes has adjusted to the darkness the sky is illuminated by a thousand clear bright stars and other unknown bodies. When arrived at car park, there was a car here parked up (middle of no-where and in pitch black) however no worries as just a couple hunting a sighting of the aurora borealis that was predicted this night in a couple of hours. Fantastic experience as the darkness is all encompassing. If you make time to go to one these sites, you will not be disappointed.
