Shopmobility is an invaluable service that provides assistance to individuals with disabilities. By registering with them, you can have access to wheelchairs or scooters, enabling you to move around more comfortably. What truly makes this service remarkable is the dedicated group of volunteers who selflessly contribute their time. Their efforts are absolutely amazing and greatly enhance the quality of life for those they assist.

I visited St.Albans town today.I have to say the experience was very stressful.I am a registered disabled elderly person. I have a heart condition and COPD. I have a blue badge , I can only walk very short distances. Having driven around the town. I could only find three disabled parking bays. Two were occupied by blue badge vehicles, the third had a UPS van half in the loading bay, half in the disabled bay. After several minutes of driving around, some roads are closed. I finally drove into the Maltings car park. I could not locate any disable bays. I ended up parking tight up against a concrete post. I drive a Kia Sportage, it was incredibly difficult to get out of my vehicle. Despite having a blue badge i had to pay £3.Walking up to Marks & Spencer’s was certainly a challenge. My only saving Grace was locating the shop mobility office, within a concealed car park. The Mobility Manager could not have been more informative, helpful and understanding.I think the council need to take a look at disability parking needs around the town. Road diversions & closures has made the town difficult to access for Disabled/ Elderly drivers.St.Albans was a great town, today I felt excluded..
