Mums Private Hire, Castle Cary

Very unpleasant experience with I presume the owner of this taxi service after my friend and I booked a cab journey to transport us via Castle Cary to the offsite campsite we were staying at for Glastonbury Festival. They initially seemed happy enough to take the booking (which we confirmed a few weeks prior) but on the morning of the cab ride we were met with a variety of bizarre and downright rude text messages from the same person who told us they were “not willing to turn down normal trade for a “Glastonbury job” after finding out we may need a pass in order to drive to said campsite even though we told them if that was the case we’d happily buy a pass on the spot when we got there (which you are able to do). It was very bizarre and the person was really rather rude and obnoxious. Wouldn’t recommend.

I had to travel last minute for a family emergency and tried about 3 other firms who couldn't take me as it was too close to the school run. I finally made it to this company on my list and Sue showed up and couldn't be more lovely. I was deeply stressed at the time but we talked and she distracted me. I am so greatful to her for getting me to where I needed to be on time. Thank you for a reliable service and excellent company at a difficult time.

Hired For a 2.5 day tour of some Somerset Historical places (Wells Cathedral, Glastonbury Tor and Abbey) and local Cideries. Had a great time! Was always prompt and early when picking us up and had many suggestions and places to see. Her stories and very entertaining and she kept us laughing the whole time. Will def be back and will be sure to book Mum’s Private Hire when I do.

Sue provided transport between Castle Carey Station and Glastonbury. Very friendly and professional. Highly recommend.

Mum saved my bacon!I got in late at the Castle Cary station, and most taxi services wouldn't answer or weren't sending any cabs out. Sue also said she wasn't running this late, but when I asked her if there was anyone I could call, she took pity on me and got me home to bed. Very grateful. She's quite a character too, which as a visiting American I particularly appreciated.

Needed a taxi and there weren't many around because of the bank holiday weekend. Phoned ahead for a booking but could only book one way (she had an early pickup the next day so wouldn't do the return journey). Pick up was prompt and we arrived in good time - it was only a short journey. So why the two stars? On the day in question there were several cyclists around on the roads. The driver (/owner) spent the entire journey shouted at the window at any cyclist which got in her way (including some on the other side of the road), blowing her horn and complaining loudly to us. She was pretty obnoxious and generally oblivious to the fact that this may not lead to a pleasant journey for us. The price was also pretty steep for the length of the journey, but I'm not local so I don't know the going rate.
