The Anchor Danbury
Beautiful looking pub in the countryside. Had a date night and was delighted by the fish. We had whitebait and salmon to start followed by delicate Plaice and flavourful haddock with the most crispy batter. Great for summer outdoor eating with all the fairy lights and kids playground. 9/10

Me and two friends booked a table here on a Sunday. First time being here, It's a really nice pub! The starters were large quantities for a great price, however due to the quantity being big, my friends weren't happy as they now didn't know if they were going to be able to get through their main meal and we were too full up, to be able to get a dessert.I really enjoyed the food, Sunday Roast Beef dinner was so nice to eat, very filling, it's what I was mostly looking forward to after seeing other people's photos on here. I would say that this place needs to invest in sharper knives, I couldn't even cut through a potato with them and when we ordered the second drinks when they asked us. They forgot about it and we ended up needing to ask them again, then the drinks arrived way after we had already eaten our main meal. It wasn't even busy at all there. Overall, I would still come back here again at some point as the food was still great and the place looked nice, the staff were also very polite.

Very cute pub with nice seating outside. Service was friendly and there are some interesting options on the menu, check the specials on the blackboard inside. Generous portions. 4 stars only cause of quite generic beer selection.

Great food and service. Sat out front with dog in large area with view to green and tiny village. Good base for walking routes. Be back for sure!

I booked a table for 2 for a Sunday roast after reading the positive reviews. I wanted somewhere to have a lovely roast followed by a long walk in Danbury Country Park. I actually googled ‘best roast dinner in Danbury’ so I did have high expectations. I want to start off by saying that the all of the staff were absolutely wonderful, friendly, attentive and could not do enough for you. The pub itself is beautiful inside and out with a lovely atmosphere. The roast dinner was poor which saddens me to say and I never leave reviews but I was very disappointed. We spent £70 between the two of us on starters, roast dinners and soft drinks which I would happily pay if the food had been up to a good standard but the roasts really let them down. I want to add that we had booked for 12pm so it was not like they were running low or struggling to keep food fresh as coming from a hospitality background myself I know is a struggle on a Sunday! I had roast beef and it was over cooked and tough, the potatoes were very undercooked, hard and not crispy at all. The vegetables were raw and not enough for two people. The Yorkshire puddings were perfect and we also ordered the extra side of cauliflower cheese which was delicious but again I feel quite pricey for the portion size… with regards to starters, I had whitebait for a starter which was nice and my partner had the potato skins. We were both confused by the potato skins, they were literally scraps of potato skin (no actual potato) and they were deep fried with a lot of grease. Not what we were expecting at all. Overall myself and my partner were disappointed with the food expecting a lovely big hearty roast dinner to start off October. Too pricey for the quality of the food and portion sizes.

Lovely old country pub with tastefully constructed extension housing the restaurant section. Service was first class and food quality high. The pub is clearly popular as even attending midweek for lunch it was well filled with people. Not uncomfortably crowded but enough to create a lovely atmosphere. Good selection of options on the menu plus plenty of specials on the chalk board to cater for most tastes. Will definitely recommend.

Having lived in maldon for nearly 8 years I swear to visit this lovely looking pub atleast once a week, well today was the day, I was unsure how our slight del boy accents and non country attire would fair but I have to say this place is CUSHTY, food was absolutely bang on, atmosphere was lovely as was the staff, and the flowers, well bonnet de douche.Couple of reviews mention pricing, I must say I thought it was dead reasonable. Proper food cheaper than a brief case without a code, in 2023 I'm a pleased man.I'll be back, possibly tomorrowBonjour
