Haytor Car Park
Well, we didn't realise the weather would be so bad today. We climbed Hay Tor but could not see a bloody thing!

Part of the Dartmoor National Park. Haytor is a great viewpoint across Newton Abbot ,Torbay . From haytor mount the views can be spectacular. Summer or winter. It's not unusual to see my home bathed in sunshine from haytor down in Newton Abbot as the rain beats down hard on the mount. But that's the joy of being on Dartmoor . No such thing as bad weather. Just bad kit.

Easy place to access via road. Gentle walk to the top of Hay Tor. Beautiful views. Wild horses and refreshments. Nice place for families with public toilets

Haytor Car Park
We have recently moved to Devon and this place is 15 mins drive and we have been here a few times now, and we love it and so does our dog, the views are amazing and there are so many different walks to go on, and lots of different animals the horses are so friendly it's great. It's such an amazing place it will not disappoint.

What can I say. An absolute local gem for us near by and definitely to be experienced if your what you'd call a townie or city person. A good taste of Dartmoor without going too far off the beaten track. Widecombe is just down the road for a nice spot of lunch or afternoon tea. Haytor quarry is just down from the tor itself and a beautiful place to sit and unwind in the shelter. Alot of history in the area including the stone railway which joins the Templar way through nearing towns and villages. Which I believe is sign posted the whole route and has information boards aswell.

Information centre very informative and staff very helpful. Toilets clean and maintained well. Carpark is very confusing parked in disabled bay but no sign to say that disabled badge holders have to pay. Just lucky I didn't get a fine.
