Pigeon Tower
Stunning place, very picturesque especially on a sunny day. There is a bit of hilly walk up to it but it is well worth it ! It gave me Harry Potter vibes ;)

Love love loved it here! We stayed here for ages taking photos and taking in the view! Probably the quietest part of the area!!Just wish we could have looked inside! If you stand at the top of the hill the house looks like a face!

Built by the person who created the Lever Brothers company after his home was reputedly destroyed by a suffragette (ironic as Lord Levenshulme was in favour of suffrage). The tower stands alone on the hillside at the top of what were Oriental Gardens. Nice views towards the coast but not very nice views behind due to the nasty looking mountain bike trail that's cut up the landscape around it. Behind it you will see the monument upon Rivington Pike (a 10 minute walk to get up to) & the huge radio mast on Winter Hill. It's about a 10 to 15 minute walk to get to the Tower from the car park. Not suitable for wheelchair users due to the steep & uneven path. The Tower is not open to the public. There are no toilets here. In the evening this place (mostly in the car park) is unfortunately occupied by the local youth who create a lot of unnecessary noise. Not very nice in what is supposed to be a peaceful place. That's why I won't give it 5 stars.

Pigeon Tower in Rivington offers visitors a unique historical experience. The tower, built in 1910 by Lord Leverhulme, stands as a testament to architectural elegance. The surrounding landscape provides picturesque views, making it a worthwhile destination for those interested in both history and nature.

Treated myself to a circular walk from Winter Hill past Pigeon Tower and then on to Rivington Pike.Pigeon Tower is near the site of the gardens. It's a good walk from Winter hill, however, if you park on George's Lane, it's not too far from Rivington Pike. The gardens are great for a picnic or just a wonder.

Been coming here for years, in my Landrover, unfortunatley the land nearby has been ruined by offroaders with no respect :( very sad. However the chinese gardens are amazing, a lovely walk down and round. Ine of my favourite places with fantastic views

A nice walk up through the gardens and back. Very rainy when we went up so nice and quiet.

If you approach from the top it looks like a narrow house with a steep roof, but then you descend via the majestic staircase and look back to see a tower (or vice versa depending on which way you approach it). This is a local landmark to me and so I love it. Well worth a visit, and very close to Rivington Pike. There are also a couple of good cafes up here to serve those people that don’t think ahead and take their own drinks. After fresh snow it looks particularly appealing but once the snow freezes, the steps can be seriously slippy.

Wow this was some find. Beautiful country hike with amazing scenery all around. Hidden gems of historical landmarks you wouldn't believe what's so close to home. I was so exited I will need to go back and finish it off, making great content for my YouTube channel Hideaway Han.Parking has a contribution of £2 via text to help maintain the grounds and sites.
