We had the most wonderful experience on the Fingal Bike the Glen Tour. Our Skipper, Adam, Guide, Hayden, chef, Lucy, and bosun, Steve we’re all the most professional, competent, warm, and helpful that we could imagine possible. We had a great group of people with whom we enjoyed fabulous activities, meals, and conversations. The accommodations and amenities were fabulous. The cycling ranged from challenging to quite easy, something for everyone, and our guide was excellent. We loved this experience and recommend it enthusiastically!

This trip with Caledonian Discovery on their barge the Ros Crana was one of the very best trips I have ever taken. I am from California and 73 years old and there was plenty of outdoor activities for a healthy 73 year old to do. We biked (I chose an e-bike), hiked, canoed, swam, etc. The crew was exceptional. The chef made the most delicious, healthy meals morning, noon and night. I am a pescatarian, there was a vegetarian, and a vegan on our cruise and she managed to feed us all without a hitch. She baked fresh bread every day and the most wonderful deserts. Our activity director was so knowledgeable about every aspect of the Great Glen canal, the wildlife, and the surrounding woods and glens. If I could give this trip a higher score I would. We expected rainy, cold weather and we were blessed with temperatures in the high 60's most days with not much rain in August. Well done Martin in accomplishing your dream of working in the highlands and exposing others to the place you love.

This was a wonderful experience the boat the scenery the activities the food all amazing. And the brilliant crew Martin Briony and Josh really looked after us Special shout out to Bumble our amazing chef for our fabulous meals and to Briony for her passion and knowledge all really added to the overall experience exceeded all expectations. I had the good fortune to spend a holiday in Scotland recently. During that time we spent six nights on the barge Ros Crana, one of two barges Caledonian Discovery Ltd owns and runs. We had a crew of four and twelve guests. While I've traveled all over the world for decades, I had never had a barge experience. That all changed with this trip and it was absolutely magical. I'm rating barge trips in general and the Ros Crana barge in particular as it met and exceeded all my desires. It's hard to explain but each day brought new adventures and you could either choose to relax and enjoy the barge living or you could explore. Or.... you could explore before lunch then have a cold beer and read a book in the afternoon. Or..... you could do everything and feel twenty years younger by the end of the trip which is what I chose to do. In the morning I was mountain biking (with the help of an e-bike). In the afternoon I could hike before hopping into a canoe and racing the boat to the next stop. We were fueled by the amazing food we were given throughout the day starting with a hearty breakfast and ending with a dinner consisting of local high quality produce and proteins. They also had great vegan/vegetarian options available. I've left so many things out as I can't get into one review just how great this trip was. All twelve guests felt the trip was magical and much of that lies with Martin and the crew. I will definitely do another barge trip and can't wait to be back on the Ros Crana!

We had a wonderful time on the Walk the Great Glen cruise on Fingal from Fort William to Inverness in early May. It was the perfect way to do a long distance path - comfortable beds, great showers, good food cooked for you, lovely company and no repeated packing and unpacking. Our walking guides were fun, informative and helpful. The food was perfect, and the skipper and crew made life on board such a treat. The boat is beautiful (I have far too many photos!) and felt very homely and comfortable. The weather was kind, and the scenery and wildlife came up to proof. We thought our trip was really good value, and we’re already thinking about what cruise to do next. Thanks to the whole crew for an amazing trip.

Beyond Expectations! Martin and his crew were encouraging, supportive, knowledgeable mixed with a fun, informal and relaxed vibe. The Ros Crana is a beautiful & comfortable boat. Meals were incredible - tasty, healthy & made with love!

The most amazing experience.Great crew & fellow guests who all got on so well.Ros Crana over the summer solstice on the Sea lochs & wildlife cruise. Magical. Even the bottlenose dolphins came to play.Fantastic hospitality, food, comfort & attention to detail all ways round.I could not recommend the experience or Caledonian Discovery highly enough. Truly unforgettable.

We had an excellent cruise. Comfortable cabins (ok a bit tight, but perfectly usable for a couple), lovely fit-out of a historic barge. Great food. All activities were safe and good fun, we did bike rides, canoe trips, swam in all three lochs. People went paddle boarding. Or you can just sit on the deck of the barge and watch some of the best scenery you’ll see anywhere. Great crew as well. Thanks guys, we had a great week.

Caledonian Discovery was a great find. We have enjoyed ourselves throughout the whole week. Choosing from activities cycling, walking and canoeing was great fun. We truly recommend this holiday to see the Caledonian canal and experience all the sights. We even spotted an osprey! A big thanks to all the staff, skipper, and crew on Fingal.

Did the 'Walk the Great Glen' trip in September 2023. Fantastic time and would strongly recommend. The crew, accommodation, food, beer and other travellers were all great! Weather was kind and the walking was just right. It was good to be able to set out each day without having to navigate, thanks to our guide, Hayden ... he did a brilliant job of keeping us on track, on schedule and informed.
