I used YourParkingSpace (YPS) to book a monthly rolling car park space near to my apartment in Manchester City centre. The price of £100pcm was reasonable for the area. Though it was not clear that there was a £100 holding deposit, this didn’t bother me too much, as I was paying for a guaranteed space in a car park managed by a hotel.However, in the first three days it was clear that the parking was not managed. There was no allocated bays, there was no control of entry or exit. The car park had more cars in it than spaces available, and it was clear they were trying to squeeze as many cars in as possible.The YPS website listed the car park as managed by the hotel, so I went to speak to them about why I had nowhere to park. My complaint was escalated, and I was told by no less than the area manager for the hotel company that they do not manage the car park and the issue was nothing to do with them. I must instead speak to YPS. When I did, they said it was not their fault. I asked if I could get a refund for the days I could not park (as a gesture of goodwill) and transfer my parking to a space elsewhere in the city centre, that did manage access with fobs.What happened next has left me in the lurch. The agent at YPS cancelled my parking, and started a refund of my £100 rental and £100 deposit. The process to get this total of £200 could take up to TEN DAYS to complete. In the meantime, I don’t have a parking space, have been given a ticket by the hotel car park management, and cannot arrange a new space until my refund clears as it’s that time of year that money is a little tight.It’s arms length customer service by YPS and I’m highly likely to go back to someone like JustPark, who whilst they are not perfect have a much better customer service focus.
