The Barley Mow
Lovely old pub restaurant with fabulous outside eating space as well as inside. Lots of parking spaces in own car park. Not far from the canal. Delicious homemade food. Would recommend!

The Barley Mow
Lovely spot for a nice bit of lunch! Huge pub garden next to the canal. Food is usually great but came here at 1PM today to try their roasts and for £15.50 was very disappointed. Only had turkey left and the amount of cauliflower cheese we were given for 2 of us was ridiculous. We thought they were individual portions but nope and also stingy on the gravy.

Always a lovely experience. Traditional pub with friendly staff, a good range of drinks, featured brewers and craft ales. Sunday roast is recommended but also offers decent pub food.

Lovely little pub sat by the canal, we’ve eaten here a few times now and it’s always lovely. If you sit on the garden you can watch the boats go by and it does have its own mooring point do you can tie up and enjoy a meal and a drink and then stagger back! The pub has a large car park and was mostly empty when we arrived however on weekends this can fill up quickly. The pub is also dog friendly inside and out so your 4 legged friends can join you as well. It’s a typical old pub lots of nice beams and a warm atmosphere. It serves typical pub food and can’t be faulted on that as it’s really nice!We drove down today and had lovely service from the start. Friendly attentive waitress who kept checking everything was ok, we had mains and dessert and couldn’t fault any of it.Fish and chips were cooked perfectly with a good side portion of peas, and I followed it up with a very nice sticky toffee pudding. Nice pub, great atmosphere and great food.

Classic English pub in the country. Everyone's nice. Had a curry; I was happy. I've never eaten sticky toffee pudding before, but I liked it. They have local farm cider and local chutney

Very nice canal side pub to be found in Cosgrove, great size garden and a large covered patio area ideal for Al Fresco dining. It was pretty quiet when we went so not a lot of atmosphere, but should imagine this changes when busy. There was a lot of people dining and from what I saw it looked great, got hold of a menu and it is quite varied and not too expensive. A friend of mine arrived and I asked him what the food was like, he said it has always remained to be of a high standard, so good enough for me.Good range of real ales, wines etc.Very nice comfy feel to the interior of the pub, well worth a visit.

We absolutely love this pub, the outside is done beautifully, there loads of garden space including sheltered areas. The inside gives you a real country feel and the staff are very friendly, this properly explains why it was very busy. The food was very enjoyable, again I would recommend booking a table if you wish yo eat.

This is our second trip here to date. They have a great choice of Beers/Ales , live music at the weekend, massive outdoor area which is great for kids or pets alike. Food is home cooked with choices of seasonal veg/ meat locally sourced. Vegetarian dishes are available and they are great. Beware, if you want to book a table for the weekend, book a week in advance , otherwise you will never get a table, as this place IS very popular with the locals and surrounding areas.

We came in, before we sat down the waitress asked our drinks, we asked to wait 2 minutes. Because a member of our table was at the bar we asked for a further 2 minutes. She seemed visibly annoyed. We later gave our drinks order, and asked for a few more minutes before ordering food, and the food order was thrown at us, and when we asked for the food options half the options were unavailable - which is fine as Sunday afternoon, but then asking for what we then thought was available was also unavailable and we were then Told “well if you ordered earlier that wouldn’t have happened”. We decided to go elsewhere and the attitude was shocking. We have never been before, and won’t be returning. I’ve never witnessed such terrible service. We are a polite table, we were friendly to the team and all very shocked with this situation.

Good varied menu.Mostly traditional pub food. There is plenty of seating inside, and plenty of seating areas outside. Outside has a large area with views of the canal. There is a car park but it seems to get full fairly quickly, so you may have to park on the road.Easy to get to via road or walkway next to the Grand Union canal. You order and pay at the bar, so remember your table number.Dogs are welcome both inside and outside the pub.Intact this is very dog friendly offering dog ice cream, and dog sausages !! Ask when ordering.Friendly staff.Good selection of real ales and lagers.Food did take 40 minutes to arrive, however we did visit on a sunny Sunday afternoon so it was fairly busy.... hopefully this was just a one off !!I would still visit again despite this.Great for family dinners/lunches as they have large circular tables in the garden that can hold 8 people.
