Excellent tuition!I have been a part time student at Barnes for the past 3 years (following the drawing programme through to painting) and am very happy with the progress I have made during this time.Travis and Nancy are both highly skilled, successful artists and excellent, attentive and demanding tutors.Processes and concepts are explained clearly and methodically until they become second nature. You learn what needs to be done to achieve a desired result.This is a highly structured approach to drawing and painting which requires patience, self -discipline and humility.The bar is set very high but the rewards justify the effort. (It’s a thrill to see your work selected to hang in the Mall galleries!)

I had the good fortune to study at the Barnes Atelier under Travis Seymour direction and what a fantastic experience it was which I have many fond memories of. It' has a great ambience, the tuition is second to none and derived from a long lineage of solid, quality art instruction as it 'used to be taught' and Travis makes you feel at complete ease. Great, great place.

Excellent teaching!!!

I have been to workshops and classes at the Barnes Atelier for 4 or 5 years. Having studied the whole Academic Classical Realism 4 year Program in Florence I wanted to find teaching that would enrich this already profound and advanced training. 100% this is what I found with Travis & Nancy. Their experience is such that they understand the needs of each student giving guidance inspiration and critiques to enable everyone to understand, move ahead and 'get better'.

My name is Carolina Smith and I contacted Travis because I wanted to improve my painting. Travis observational skills combined with his expertise and commitment to teaching have allowed me to gain a better understanding of all the elements that allow for a good quality piece of art. I strongly recommend anyone interested in improving their painting and or drawing skills to try a one to one session with him. It requires dedication and commitment but you won't regret it.

I have been working with Travis since last year to improve my drawing and painting skills. Travis is an excellent teacher and mentor, very patient with all the questions that I have, and guides me in a very structured and methodical manner in my drawings and paintings. His guidance has helped me improve my paintings and drawings to a great extent! Very glad and lucky to have such a teacher! :)

I enrolled in the Mentorship program with Travis and I can say that of all the mentorship programs I enrolled, this one was by far the best!The format of the lectures are very organized and Travis is a great teacher and artist (take a look at his art portfolio)! The weekly meetings you have are recorded for you to use them for future reference. He goes through your assignment in great detail, pointing out specifically what you need to change and HOW to change it. He is very encouraging but also honest because he really wants you to learn not only how to draw/paint, but also creating the highest quality art as professionals do. He takes the time to explain to you anything you will ask him and you can tell he loves teaching art. He genuinely cares for his students and really wants you to learn.You will go through some challenging assignments (as every Atelier tends to do) but this is how a future artists learn. Don't worry though, because no matter how intimidating an assignment may look, Travis will help you as much as possible to make it grade-school level easy! Plus at the end of that chapter" you will have created some amazing drawings! Also
