We have visited twice now and on both occasions been blown away with the quality of the food. It’s very clear that really high quality ingredients are used which is reflected in the taste.Our favourite is the lemon and cherry cake although it’s like no other cake we have ever tried, not sure how it’s done but it tastes amazing!We can also highly recommend the brownies we tried one with what I believe was almond and cherry and our daughter loved the American style brownie and a tub of freshly churned ice cream. On both occasions we were served by Emma who is a delight and clearly very passionate about what she does. Great local business to support during these very tough and challenging times for all. We will be back!

Sweet Patisserie & Bakery School by Emma Carlton
We attended one of Sweet Patisserie's occasional evening events this week. What a nice, relaxed, pleasurable experience. For the evening the patisserie is transformed into an intimate restaurant. Courses included; croquette de jambon, crispy porchetta, aged goats cheese gouda, ile flottant and petite four. Each course was accompanied by a wine selected by Mark Stephenson of Grape & Grain (Morpeth). Emma introduced the food, Mark described the wine. I can't think of a better way to spend an evening surrounded by exceptional quality food and wine in the company of hosts who are clearly passionate about what they do.

Fantastic shop with awesome sweet treats, savoury bites, and award winning sticky toffee pudding. The hot chocolate is to die for and the welcome by Emma is simply brilliant.Today I enjoyed some lush sausage rolls and moreish cheese scones! Highly recommended.

Tried their little mini lemon meringue tarts, absolutely delightful , as is the shop. The best sweet treats in town and the coffee is great too, with the most friendly staff. Emma and her team have the shop Immaculate, a real patisserie! Well worth a visit, mind be prepared to be tempted. Def be back

I’m speechless. Bowled over. Knocked out in the first round. After hearing nothing but great things I made a trip to see what the buzz was about. In short I have been sleepwalking through food for years. I was brought down to earth with a resounding happy bang.The premises give you a clue. Everything is beautifully laid out and looks perfect. You wish to know why? Because it is perfect. No hype- just quality running through it like a watermark.I have just finished a mini tea at home with the lightest and tastiest sausage rolls - the meat filling was generous and in perfect ratio with the nicest pastry I can remember.Next up the black pudding scotch egg. I was told by Emma about the trouble she goes to sourcing the finest and the proof of the pudding as they say… not a hint of grease (the sausage rolls were the same). Just flavours.And the lemon meringue. My goodness. Lightest and most flavourful I’ve ever had. The lemon tasted, of well lemon. But not bitter - absolutely gorgeous. Coupled with the best pastry base and topped with a beautiful meringue.It might seem a bit over the top for a review - I think I’ve sold it short as my words couldn’t adequately articulate the game-changing quality of all these items.Yes i’ll be back - my only regret is that I hadn’t discovered the delights sooner.

Sweet Patisserie & Bakery School by Emma Carlton
A slice of heaven on a plate and warm chat! Sweet Patisserie is no ordinary bakery or cafe, but something very special all of its own. I overheard another customer say that each time she came she thought she had tasted the best from Sweet Patisserie, only to have it bettered the next time she came. And that's just it! I was only in Whitley Bay for a couple of days but stopped in for a coffee and scone on both days (the walnut and date scone is just the best!). Both times, Emma made me feel so welcome and we had a great chat about some of her amazing experiences and travels. When I left, I took a box of pastries for friends but ended up sampling them with them too! I'm completely in love with the baked custard tart (she described it as silky on the tongue and she wasn't exagerating!) And the Tipsy cake is amazing! I can't wait for my son to come home from holidays to try Emma's famous Sticky Toffee Pudding which is waiting for him! Sweet Patisserie is a very special place indeed, all the very best to you Emma!

Sweet Patisserie & Bakery School by Emma Carlton
Last night (Sept 27) we went to Emma's latest wine pairing event with Mark from Grape and Grain in Morpeth. The skilful cooking of Emma and the thoughtful and careful wine parings from Mark made for a truly memorable evening. All the dishes were of exceptional quality so singling one or out is difficult but a porchetta with pork sourced from an outstanding butcher and an isle flottante were certainly highlights. We were introduced to some fabulous wines including a sparkling wine from the Dao to start, a 100% viognier from Morellino di Scansano to accompany the porchetta and a Sauterne with the isle flottante. Anybody who enjoys good food and good wine especially when they are thoughtfully paired should not hesitate but come to a future event. We will certainly be back.

Amazing! I had the opportunity to speak to Emma and to hear her passion and commitment is wonderfully infectious. I grabbed a beautiful based cheesecake, scone, muffin and her world-famous sticky toffee pudding. Oh my goodness, absolutely amazing!Amazing combination of flavours and the sticky toffee pudding was amazingly light and fluffy.I cannot recommend highly enough!

Sweet Patisserie & Bakery School by Emma Carlton
Have been searching whole Newcastle for a bakery that makes good canelés and this is the one. Canelés are absolutely heavenly, I've tried them in multiple different countries across Europe and they all taste a little bit different, but Emma's recipe is probably one the best. Really recommend this patisserie!
