St Fagans Castle Gardens
The gardens surround the castle and offer a variety of different planting across different areas. As you approach the gardens from the museum's main entrance you enter an area full of a variety of different trees and parkland housing some of the museum's reconstructed historical buildings. Two large ornamental ponds and a small stream run through the centre of this area of the garden and provide a perfect backdrop to photos and picnics. There is a beautiful terraced garden with benches and seating areas overlooking the ponds. As you move up through the terraced gardens you arrive at the walled gardens surrounding the castle. The walled gardens are home to a variety of interesting features, including greenhouses and a kitchen garden, an Italian-style garden and a variety of formal gardens with water features and benches. The castle gardens provide an excellent spot for picnics and are always a must-see when we visit as the planting changes throughout the year.
