CalMac Ferries Mallaig

Great Birdseye view from the upper deck.- they let us catch the earlier ferry so that was a result. Watch out for parking attendants in town, they are on it like a car bonnet!. First few minutes of trip all the car alarms go off due to manoeuvring but they all settle down once the ferry gets underway. There are shops and cafes on board and the views are just stunning. We travelled from here to the Isle of Skye - we were offloaded without delay and on our way within a few minutes.

Reservation for October 29th. We arrive at 3.20pm, departure at 4pm, and are told it's cancelled. No one warned us, we had to retrace our steps, a 2-hour detour. What a shame.

Hello, reservation was not easy and we had to do it by phone and email. We received confirmation for crossing at 9.10 am on August 6th. When we arrived for boarding we learned that our ferry cancelled and we were not informed because Calmac doesn't send sms notification to foreign numbers. Apologies were not offered. The possible next crossing was at 11.00. That ruined our other reservations at Isle of Skye as we were late for distillery tours.. unprofessional and rude company and bad service

CalMac staff do a wonderful job considering the age and shortage of vessels they have to work with. I am a regular customer and gave always found the staff to be helpful, polite and efficient.Help them to help you by booking your ferry in advance.

Nice staff but extremely unreliable service. Tried to take it 2x. First time the weather, then 'technical issues'.Both times we were notified short before departure on the way to the port.I would avoid unless it's the only option to complete the trip.

Absolutly unreliable!! We booked our group for 9am weeks ahead and this was confirmed. They changed it to 8am two days before the trip and when we arrived to the port they told us that they let us go at 2pm without any information about that :-( Use a bridge if you can. Avoid this ferry!!

The staff are professional as soon as I arrived a young lad helped me out right away. I've never driven a car on to a ferry so being first in the queue was an experience. Was an excellent sailing and went 100% to schedule. Cal mac get a lot of bad rep but I didn't see any operational issues here.

Stunning views of Skye

We came on here to go to both Skye and Rum during May.Booking was not easy online and I had to use the phone - once you had worked out the timetable - which required explanation by phone and me ringing through to the Mallaig office. Careful of summer vs winter timetable and the tides affecting timings!The timings are more guidance rather than exact, so be there 30mins early and be prepared to wait an hour to get on.The facilities on the boat are okay - you can get food and drink if you want it.We found that timing as much less accurate than the other 2 ferry operators we used, but the others were also more expensive. So overall good value for money.
