Not recommendedWe agreed to have two wedding dresses made with 6 months notice.Significant deposits were paid upfront and we awaited fittings with patterns agreed.We kept consistent contact and just told all is in hand and she will contact us.10 days before the wedding and still no designs to see or try on.I was then ill with covid but my partner was negative and Gwen refused to let her in the shop as ‘she is vulnerable’.Therefore left without any wedding dresses 10 days before the big day and Gwen’s words were ‘ I am so sorry I’m high risk and excessively busy’ .If we had known this option was high risk and too busy to do the job we never would have chanced it for the big day .Luckily another shop provided us with amazing dresses for our big day at such short notice !!It’s took a few weeks to decide whether to leave a review but on reflection feel we need to warn other brides if the same was to happen to them.In reply : My partner was negative throughout as you knew and you refused to let her in the shop. I came into the shop on the 22nd June , - wedding was 12th , July, you had customers in with you . I reminded you we needed 2 pieces of lace for the bouquets , at this point you said you were still awaiting on lace to arrive and not worry , ‘ everything was in hand’.So we feel your explanation of covid and your vulnerability isn’t realistic to the what’s app inquiries for months leading up to this date when we hadn’t even been in for fitting.Social media is a positive platform for feedback and transparency therefore a useful tool for others to make their own decisions.

Gwen kindly did the alterations and fittings on my wedding dress and that of my mum and bridesmaids. She did a fantastic job and meticulously ensured that the dresses were altered exactly right.Gwen was always super friendly and put us all at ease as well as giving brilliant advice re how to walk down the aisle and how to go to the loo in a large dress! She even gave very clear instructions to my bridesmaids on how to get me in the dress and how to ensure it was positioned correctly on the day.Would 100% recommend Gwen to other future brides for her sewing skills and to anyone wanting to buy beautiful dresses for special occasions. Gwen was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC from start to finish. My daughter and friends got their Prom dresses here and she put them at ease from the off. They all looked beautiful on the night. Wholly wholly recommend!!!!!

Been to Gwen’s for an alteration. She was so helpful and even suggested other ideas which I never thought off. Great service with a fab person who is very pleasing.

Paid for a bridesmaid dress up front so it couldbe ordered in advance. No communication at all apart from when I went in to check where the dress was. Dress was lovely but the customer service and communication was extremely poor. I wouldn’t buy from there again sadly, which is such as shame as would like to support a local business.

Unfortunately really poor service here, paid nearly £300 for wedding dress alterations. Some were totally forgotten about, then the morning of my wedding we found one of my sleeves was only pinned on not sewed so when we took the pin out it fell off... I told her what happened and she called me a liar so sent her photos and no reply no apology no offer to refund .. utterly disappointed

Would absolutely recommend. Gwen has been amazing from the start all the way to the end. Always fitted me in when was possible for me and always flexible for around me. She also did my sisters bridesmaid dress and again always flexible, reliable and such a lovely lady. Wouldn't go anywhere else she is perfect!

Well what can I say? From the first text to the day I picked my dress up Gwen has been utterly amazing. I had a massive panic 4 days before an awards evening as I couldn’t fit into any of my ball gowns. Gwen calmed me down found me a beautiful dress and altered it all in three days. The service from her was impeccable. I can not recommend her enough.

Do NOT recommend this shop at ALL..My dad came to Gwens shop for a suit for the races, Gwen advised that she doesn’t actually stock the suits in the shop but does order them in 2 days before when required, just a small deposit is needed.My dad asked if there was anything in place for covid protection, as this suit was for the races when covid restrictions were in the balance of being lifted or put tighter.Gwen advised that if the restrictions get put in place, that the deposit he paid for the suit would be automatically be refunded up to 2 days before the suit was required.My dad felt assured that the service was going to be what he wanted so he paid upfront for all of the cost of the suit so he knew where he stood with the costings.2 weeks before the event the covid restrictions were put in place tighter so the event couldn’t go ahead, as part of the procedure dad contacted Gwen straight away on her main mobile and bridal shop number and left messages. 3 days had passed and no reply, dad sent further messages, emails and tried to call and still no answer, 3 days later he tried again and Gwen just read and ignored and declined all my dads calls and texts,A week later dad still hasn’t heard anything and was beginning to get really worried about his money, he tried contacting again and Gwen replied that she’d paid the money in that day and the money would arrive almost instantly.2 days later, still no money, 3 days later still no money.. my dad sent so many messages and voicemails and Gwen was in the shop when the phone was ringing!Eventually I went into Northwich and went to the shop and rang the bell, Gwen answered the door and spoke to me like a piece of dirt and asked “can I help you”I said yes in fact you can, where’s the money for my dads suit? She looked grey. She had obviously been caught out, Gwen called my dad straight back and obviously within minutes the money was in his account.I really truly believe Gwen had ZERO interest in paying that money back and was going to try and ignore him for the foreseeable .I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this shop, if she did that to him over a suit, think what she could do for a wedding dress!!After speaking to people about the incident it seems she’s done this more than a handful of times. Really poor and terrible service.
