Very nice walk up from Hebden Bridge to Heptonstall. Had a nice coffee and cake at Towngate Tearoom. A warm welcome from the attentive staff awaits your arrival. Well worth the walk.

We made multiple visits to this friendly and nicely decorated tearoom during a recent stay in the gem of a village that is Heptonstall. We enjoyed tasty breakfast sandwiches on some mornings and on other visits tried a number of the absolutely delicious cakes and tray bakes (taking more away for treats on walks too). The ginger cheesecake is exceptional and the Biscof version not far behind, the tiffin similarly delicious. If we understood correctly, all the sweet treats are made by the owners, this perhaps explains the quality.The staff were always friendly and welcoming making for an all-round lovely experience. Next time I'm sure we'll try something from the large range of take and cook at home meals too, they sound great! We are happy to heartily recommend this café.

Wonderful tearoom; amazing food, friendly staff and lovely charm.Can thoroughly recommend the mushroom soup served with a super-cheesy cheese toastie. We also had coffees, a Bailey's hot chocolate and a large slice of cheesecake (eaten before we photographed it..)Looks small from the outside, but there's a bigger seating room inside through to the back. The toilet is in the corridor. You order from the till and food is brought to the table.

Quality food and service. You can taste how much effort they put into the food. Maybe the best quiche we’ve ever had and the baked goods are amazing.

I’ve been in to this tea room 3 times now whilst working in Heptonstall. The first 2 times was lovely and the food was good (although a little expensive for what you get).However the 3rd Time I sent my apprentice to order food and before he’d even walked in the door they told him he had to take his work boots off if he wants to come in which is ridiculous considering there could be anything on the floor. He then ordered 2 paninis and they got both of the orders wrong.Definitely won’t be coming here again if that’s how they treat work men who are only trying to get food after a hard days work

Excellent cafe, really good food, delighted by the range of vegan cakes and savouries. We'll be back. Also planning to try their takeaway frozen meals, which sound brilliant.

Gorgeous little place! Had a really nice at atmosphere, staff were really friendly and the food was delicious. We had paninis and hot drinks, and even picked up some cake to takeaway on our way out.Most of the cake options were vegan. I’m not vegan myself but it was nice to see the option being catered for so widely. The lemon & almond cake was also one of the best cakes I’ve ever had.Will absolutely be coming back next time we’re in the village :-)
