The Old Cottage
We have eaten at the old cottage several times. Always as part of large family gatherings. Initially we chose it as it was (sort of) half way between different branches of the family and was dog friendly. Every visit has been a delight with a warm welcome and brilliant staff. The food is excellent and the chef so helpful. One member of the family has special requirements and they are always so happy to help.Prices are above the level you may expect in standard pubs and chain restaurants but, it has to be said, deservedly so. We haven't had a bad dish yet. The desserts are delightful.Small but perfectly formed in a beautiful old building, this is a great place to meet and eat.

Lovely Friday night family meal. Friendly staff and perfectly cooked food. There is a fab specials board and a good range of fish dishes. The scallops and meringues were fabulous. One of our party didn't fancy a dessert and wanted another starter and they accommodated no problem! We just walked in from the street and got a table luckily. Usually busy apparently. We loved it.

Excellent food and service in a homely setting with open flame fire. Large range of meals to choose from including a vegetarian menu. Be sure to order their golden, soft centre chips and battered onion rings on the side.

I was staying above the the old cottage. But it did not open until Thursday, and it stated it was open from Wednesday, so we made other arrangements, so I can't rate it truly, but the menu looks amazing.

The Old Cottage
Just had Christmas Day lunch here and it was brilliant. Family of four and we all enjoyed the setting, atmosphere and of course the food. An enjoyable 4 course meal which we all loved. It was a relaxed lunch and no pressure. Staff were friendly and helpful. Could not think of a better place to enjoy a Christmas Day lunch. Would certainly go back.

Decent service but the food was awful. Whitebait was overcooked. My daughter's pasta was undercooked but the fish fingers well overcooked. My veal was tough. I could hear the chef hitting it with a mallet. My wife's lamb shank was so bland and the roast potatoes burnt. The vegetables were either way under or way over. Never again

The Old Cottage
The Old Cottage is an atmospheric thatched, timber framed building with low beams and original features. The selection of dishes was extensive. The food was delicious. We are only in the area for a week but it was so good that we have booked in again for our last evening. The service was friendly. I would highly recommend it.

The Old Cottage
Welcoming restaurant in a lovely market town. We felt very welcome for lunch and had 2 really good courses. The sticky toffee pudding was amazing for dessert and my other half loved his profiteroles. All desserts are homemade and you can tell.It's also a hotel and would be a charming place to stay.
