Horizon Dance Company - Irish Dance

I'm so glad I started Irish dancing with Horizon over lockdown! I've always wanted to try Irish dancing and Katie is a very patient and encouraging teacher and I've improved enormously. The classes are structured which really helps with focus and I've even been able to pass grades 1, 2 and 3 so far, with grades 4 and 5 later this month. If you are an adult and want to try something new, don't hesitate.

Reccomend Horizon to anyone who wants to take up an exciting new hobby or bring back an old one from childhood. There are classes for all standards and Katie is great at encouraging everyone to improve and reach their goals. I've made loads of progress in my dancing and fitness since I started which is really rewarding and I love being part of the performance team. Some people do exams too which is great for having something to work towards. There's a nice atmosphere in the classes, everyone is friendly and helps each other with the steps - it's fun and a good workout!

Katie taught a fabulous Irish dancing class for our hen weekend! Her professionalism mixed with her charisma made for THE BEST class and such a fun morning! Highly recommend giving Katie’s classes a go, if she can teach us and make it look good, she can teach anyone! Thank you Katie ☘️

Welcoming. Exciting. Rewarding.I was a competitive Irish dancer through much of my childhood and Horizon has enabled me to rediscover the sport I love in my 20s. The classes are always fun and encouraging, but also push you to improve. Katie is an incredibly talented teacher - she makes time for every student, giving constructive personalised feedback, and her classes are very well organised. You can’t help but be inspired by her passion for Irish dancing and commitment to excellence.

Katie is an amazing teacher who strives to ensure that all dancers, regardless of age, reach their full potential. Classes are carefully planned and not a minute is wasted! Great for fitness and fun combined. The dance school also has a great social scene. Highly recommend!

I was so happy to discover Horizon when I moved to Bristol. I started Irish dance at uni and was pleased to be able to carry it on as there aren't many places that cater for adult Irish dancers. Katie is an excellent teacher, patient and dedicated to helping you dance to best of your abilities. The classes are a great way to keep your fitness up and meet new people.

Horizon is the best choice if you want to learn irish dance as Katie is a fantastic teacher. Every class is exiting and very rewarding as Katie adjusts the goal for each dancer to make sure you've got a challenge but you don't feel behind others. Katie also gives personalised critique and corrections only when you're ready to take them. I started learning irish dance watching videos from Lord of the dance during lockdown and lately I've joined Horizon and I'll never look back. I've improved a lot in just 1 year thanks to Katie. I always look forward to my next class with Horizon. Highly recommended

Every week I look forward to my dance class at Horizon. I was cautious about taking up Irish dancing again as an adult but Katie and the class was so welcoming with lots of other beginners I immediately felt at ease. Highly recommend Horizon to adults of any levels or experience, looking to have fun, learn a new skill or get fit!

I would highly recommend Horizon as a dance school and Katie as a teacher. Katie strives for excellence and this is completely apparent in the way that she runs Horizon. I initially started classes as I was new to Bristol and wanted to reconnect with my childhood hobby that I loved and missed, and to also have some fun however I’ve now massively honed in on my skill and have made significant progress, which I’m really pleased about. It took me a while to get used to a new style of choreography as it wasn’t the kind that I was used to, but Katie’s patience with me meant I wasn’t discouraged and she managed to bring out the best of my abilities and I continue to grow in confidence as time goes on. It’s been brilliant meeting the other dancers and enjoying classes, performances and parades together. I’ve loved both the performance choreography and technique choreography! Katie provides constructive feedback and ways to improve. If you are an adult with a base level of Irish dancing then I would definitely suggest joining Horizon!
