I know it is very emotional for people, writing about a hosital service, especially when they have been in pain and feel that they have not been treated quickly or efficiently. But my own experience was of being treated professionally and quickly and with great care. For me, one of the key things here is that people who criticise the hospital might be missing the point - the service is doing its best under a government which consistently belittles the efforts of hard working staff, who are far and away genuinely committed and caring people, and underfunds the service consistently. Perhaps criticism might be better directed to a political outlet than a medical one.

We were holidaying in Bath when my mother in law tripped and fell in the street. Luckily a passing ambulance stopped and the three girls, led by Claire, were absolutely magnificent in getting her to A&E. Once there, a nurse called Olivia and a doctor called Katie took very good care of her. A special mention to the occupational therapist Rachel who arranged for a commode and walking frame to go back with us to Bournemouth. Every single person we came across in the hospital was kind and considerate and cheerful and I'd like to thank them all for their kindness and help throughout this stressful time. Absolutely excellent service!!!

Absolutely appalled of the treatment of my young infant grandchild who was admitted to the children's emergency ward having to wait almost 5 hours to be seen by a doctor. I know there's been staff shortage but surely infant children who are in distress should have priority over older children.I have made an official complaint and hope this will be resolved.

Lovely hospital and staff. Been in and out recently but advised its a better hospital than those further a field. The shop is quite limited for fresh fruit, dairy etc but do sell cards, magazines, biscuits and nibbles. The atrium is not overly good. Highly priced, stall cakes and limited vegetarian foods.

Admitted for day surgery yesterday and inspite of the long queue to go in and all bays being full the staff ran it like clockwork. Both the anaesthetist and surgeon Zoe Robinson took time to cover everything to do with the operation. I had a problem with low blood pressure after the op so stayed in recovery on a drip. The nursing staff were great in there. Back on Day Surgery ward Ewa (Eva) my nurse was brilliant an asset to RUH, so kind and compassionate and caring. Sophia was also very kind. Couldn't have had better care.

Although a 1950s build its been expanded and upgraded vastly, helpfull staff and a reasonable cafeteria very busy and staff really good.Sizeable car park, reasonable prices(pay at machine around car park and main entrance). Being new to RUHi was surprised at the help i got from helpers guiding people to where they needed to go. Great.

The spiritual center in the RUH. This area is a shared area for all patients, staff and visitors to help find peace in faith or no faith.A place of prayer.A place where private and confidential discussions can be spoken.A place where you can can share, talk or just gather your thoughts.A place you can sit for a while away from the business of the hospital to find stillness. The door is always open.Life is about knowing we are all made welcome.A place of healing for all, in our separate journeys of life that are interwoven with others.

My son was recently admitted with chest pains & spent 6 days on the cardiology ward. The care he was given was first class & all the staff went out of their way to look after him. He was kept well informed about the tests and treatment he was having & a very scary time was made a bit easier for him due to the positive & friendly attitudes of everyone involved in his care.

I was on vacation in Bath when I ended up getting a really bad ear infection, making my face and throat swell up, which was very painful.I visited A&E twice and was then admitted for roughly a week.In the week I spent there, every single member of staff I encountered, be it receptionists, nurses or doctors were all very professional, patient, accommodating and really really kind. The overall mood of the staff was also just really cheerful and pleasant. The medical care I received was excellent.Even though ending up in hospital during vacation isn't really great, the staff made it as pleasant as possible and it was all in all a good experience. So a big shout out and thank you to the great staff of the Royal United Hospital! :)
