Just popped in after work to write out paperwork, this place must be the hidden gem of Chelmsford! Great food, friendly staff and everything feels fresh and clean. Will definitely be coming more often !

Place has been completely revamped and has a nice ambience with friendly staff. Good selection of beers and well chosen spirits - though would like an occasional guest ale. Recommend giving it a try.Really nice beer garden, great for the summer. Also has a table tennis table (ask the bar staff for the bats).

Went for the quiz night which was quite fun, just wish there was more variety with the types of questions but maybe it varies each week. One thing about the food (which itself is fine/nice) is I feel like there could be more information given about ingredients, as my boyfriend wasn't able to eat the food he ordered due to it not being very clear what it would contain. We were just a bit disappointed that a solution wasn't offered e.g. to remake the food, and unfortunately that's kind of put us off ordering food there in the future. Other than that, things were fine.

We visited to watch a football match (some inside watching, with some outside including children). We were really impressed with the decor. The outside area is lovely, including a sandpit for under 5s and a table tennis table. We spotted (but didn't use) games and story books. We will definitely return!

Ate here this week, two adults and three kids. The menu was excellent value for money and the food was great. Was really impressed by how friendly the staff were and what a lovely atmosphere the place had. We'll be back!

Billed as a family extra-friendly pub but far from it. The manager was happy to take our money for food (pricey for what it is) then asked us to leave once we had eaten. We arrived just before 6pm, other children present but we were refused table tennis paddles and told to just sit quietly in case the pub got busy. It didn't get busy. I complained and we were given the paddles. We were then watched like a hawk. A very disappointing experience. If you don't want kids in the early evenings then don't bill yourselves as a family pub. Not relaxing. We left by 8 and won't return and advise others with kids to go elsewhere.

Beautiful pub, decorated nicely and well set up for dogs (biscuits, blankets, water etc) and kids (shelves of toys and games plus a sand play area in the garden). Can't comment on the food as we've not yet eaten there, but loved the atmosphere in the garden when we sat outside for a drink!

Getting worse. Came in here New Year’s Eve and no beers on tap available. Now closed abruptly at 6pm on Sunday with zero notice or last call because landlord wasn’t making enough money. Plenty of places 5 minutes away on moulsham street who appreciate their customers. Edit: I’m perfectly calm chum. If you close at 6 tell your staff so they can pass on the message instead of telling us what they did. Saved you some time and changed it for you on google :) every little helps and all that
