One of the best breakfasts in Thurrock by far. Really good portions and very tasty. Would recommend this place for Breakfast. They also serve Tapas on Fri and Sat nights which we are going to try in the very near future.

Lovely breakfast at 53 fobbing this morning. The food was faultless. Waitress was amazing. Lovely atmosphere and feel to the place. Would 100% recommend. Can’t wait to go back for the afternoon/evening menu. Thank you so much

Don't let position of the Bistro put you off being in the middle of a small retail/farm storage area, once inside the atmosphere is calm with excellent furnishings we had been recommended to visit for breakfast, we were not disappointed the staff were extremely professional and the standard and quality of the breakfast was superb, I went for the small breakfast which was really good, may go for the big breakfast next time as definitely going again soon

My friend had a ploughman's lunch which was excellent.I had the Yorkshire pudding roast. A little disappointed, it was very dry even with a pot of dipping gravy. Next time the ploughman's for me.

I posted an initial and honest review based simply on the experience. Which was at best, only just ok.I posted it and a few days later the owner contacted me on messenger challenging my review and casting aspersions as to my motivation and me personally. He also invited me to contact him but had blocked me thus negating the offer! So I mailed him via the venue, pointing out that whilst I respected his right to comment equally he must respect my right to review. I make no claims as to being a professionally qualified reviewer, but my 1900+ reviews on trip advisor suggest reasonable awareness and experience. I have friends who are professional reviewers who acknowledge my reviewing skills and indeed follow me and go to venues to validate my experience. Some of the cooking was reasonable, I simply commented on the size of the octopus portion decreasing and the garnish being far too sweet, plus the whitebait undercooked. We did tell the waitress who just nodded and didn’t tell us if she would pass it on. Apparently the sole waitress was only 17 which was his only explanation about her inaction. I later discovered when he told me the previous chef left under a cloud, a fact I was clearly unaware of, despite owner suggesting my alleged “friendship” (which wasn’t true) with the previous chef was the reason for my review.I am sure the owner is committed to his business, the fact that he felt able to share unwanted personal details perplexed me slightly. e mails from him were getting more tangential so I specifically asked him not to message me anymore. When the next e mail came I simply put his various e mail addresses to my junk list so I don’t need to read diatribes from him.The venue needs to focus on feedback rather than the reviewer.I won’t sadly be interacting with this venue further. The owner really to move away from supercilious name calling that suggests a diagnostic ability way beyond his skill set (unlike my previous professional status), and sort out his own venue, then it won't attract other critical reviews that appear on his unclaimed trip advisor profile. It is nonsense to suggest you need to be an expert to submit a review, its experiential not a professional analysis.Ps a tv channel did get me to participate in a review programme as they recognised my skills unlike vitriolic owner.Apparently this delusional owner thinks you need to get his permission to review, I post on multiple pages (over 1,000,000 readers on trip advisor and over 2,000,000 views on Google) ergo this will appear on a significant number of different review pages, from google, hardens and trip advisor amongst others. In his website promotion, he describes it as a leading venue in Essex! Not sure what it leads? Clearly not quality gastronomy, the menu has dumbed down to be a very basic stereotypical non event. If they concentrated on feedback and quality rather than florid e mails inappropriately targeting reviewers it might regain its totally lost focus. I have been lucky enough to eat in over 50 of the top 100 restaurants in the UK, as listed by Michelin, hardens, good food guide and AA combined. Many Google reviews reflect previous not current chef. Pretty dead, food ok, service average, price was a bit strong, 10% service charge on a breakfast for a table of 3 when the menu clearly states '10% service charge for parties of 6'. Couldn't be bothered to argue, we won't be back !Also, there was a strong smell of damp mildew, which was really not what you want.

Absolutely superb! The 53 breakfast is huge, including loads of crusty bread toast. Staff very friendly and attentive. The best breakfast experience I have ever had. I will definitely be going back.
