The Thomas Shop

A gorgeous stop for coffee, soup (large portions!) and baked goods. Other than that there are three huge rooms with antiques and crafts from the local community. Do not miss.

Lovely place, great historic building and fascinating talk from the owner. Delicious afternoon tea. Well worth a visit.

Great little free museum to fill an hour or two. Very small, only around 3 rooms and a cafe space. Limited options on indoor activities in the area for rainy days, this fitted well while we waited for rain to clear. The owners are passionate about that building and have spent years restoring. There is also a holiday let on site.

Quirky. If your looking for fast modern service go somewhere else. If you have the time to relax and enjoy this then we'll worth it! Friendly staff, gorgeous garden, chilled atmosphere. Looks closed until you walk through what looks like someone's front door!

Really great place to visit. A step back on time and very interesting. Lovely cup of tea and gentlemen serving was so friendly and knowledgeable about the museum and shop. A real gem.

This is a stunning visit, quite unlike anywhere else. To call it unique is not really stretching a point. Very friendly owners and great cakes in the cafe. A must see if you're in the area.

The Thomas Shop is an uncurated recreation of a vintage shop. It's difficult to place the dates since the collection is so varied in its objects. The shop is part of a lived in large house on the main road into Rhyader from the Kington direction. The owners make delicious coffee and cake, which is a huge bonus. This isn't really a museum since there is little to no interpretation and the owners are doing their best to keep the displays alive by themselves. There were some interesting packaging examples, and some great Lever Brothers historical advertising that I'm sure the Port Sunlight Trust would love to have. Its a really interesting visit, and the owners deserve support. Eat the great cakes and a large mug of coffee.

We love bringing our guests here for a very unique experience. The shop is an incredible step back in time. The refreshments are delicious. The ambience very relaxing and welcoming. Be sure yo ask about the friendship quilt. An incredible tale.
