A Welsh Coal Mining Experience
Wonderful place with quite a bit to do for the fee, would highly recommend the included guide tour. It took about 1hr 30min, which Graham did a great job at showing us the ins and outs.My only criticism is the cafe closes at 2:30, so be sure to go in before the tour :)

What an awesome day out! This experience really helped us to understand what mining was to the community, the locality and indeed the country. So essential yet also so demanding and ultimately dangerous. The guide “Tony” was an amazing resource and being an ex-miner was full of stories from days gone by. He was funny and welcoming which made the whole thing even more enjoyable. We would very much recommend a visit. Loved it!!!!!!

Lovely place to visit and learn lots about Welsh mines and the Welsh coal industry. The tour is a must do, you get to look around everywhere on the site and learn lots of information off your tour guide (Graham did an amazing job!). The gift shop was lovely and featured lots of Welsh souvenirs too!We didn't get to experience the cafe as it closed at 2:30 pm so keep that in mind if you're going for the 1 pm tour. :)

Brilliant piece of history that really opens your eyes to the difficulty people endured in the mines. The dangers and treatment of the miners was awful but such interesting stories to hear. The tour is brilliant and the guide is an absolute gem. Really gets you into the zone with a great twist.

We went for Santa's toy mine. It was the best Santa experience I have ever been to. The eldest is 15 so I have done a few. From now on I am going here every Christmas.

Went to Santa's toy mine yesterday the staff couldn't have been more helpful, can not praise them enough. The man who took us on our tour talked to all the kids individually and as a group. Santa was amazing, we didn't feel rushed, every child got a magic bell which they got to swap for a present in the toy shop, the choices of present were incredible and we got to have our photo taken with santa as a family. My grandson loved the whole experience. Highly recommend, in my opinion it was well worth the money given the choice of presents the children could choose from.

It's ok but not great, you don't go down the actual mine shaft as it's flooded ( it's fake) and the tram ride at the end could be updated, tour guide was great, you do get to see more of the winding house which is great, nice little museum which is free, but to do the tour it costs £9.95 per adult but the car park is FREE, for us if you want the best experience of a coal mine then you should visit Big Pit National Coal Museum in Blaenavon as we thought this was more informative, you go down a real mine and to see where the horses lived underground.
