Keith Douglas Partnership

I used Keith Douglas partnership recently for a party wall issue and found their services helpful knowledgeable and would recommend them.

I find these negative reviews hard to believe. It seems some haven't even been clients. Keith is one of the authors of the Party Wall Act, so he is a leading authority on these matters. He could have proceeded with a survey for both us and our neighbours, but having assessed our project documentation, he told us it was unnecessary and advised us on the ways forward. He even said we didn't need a professional for what we needed to do - so I don't recognise these comments amount money either. I reckon other organisations would've have proceeded for the financial benefits though! Keith communicated clearly and promptly with both us and our neighbours. He was easy to reach and always acted quickly - telling us what he was going to do and by when. I understand that the legal language around the Act isn't the simplest for those who are not experts in this matter, but Keith explained everything to our satisfaction and we always knew where we stood. I also thought the invoice amount was completely reasonable for the work he did for us. I would highly recommend Keith to anyone requiring his services. He is friendly, polite, efficient, knowledgeable and professional. It was a pleasure working with him and I will be recommend him to my own mother who is also about to proceed with building work!

Keith's support and advice was exemplary. He helped us resolve a potential issue when a rogue company attempted to mislead our neighbours which would have resulted in us incurring costs. He informed us of what was required (stated no party wall survey was required) and why rather than just quote for full service. As an author of the act you can tell Keith is passionate to ensure it is used correctly and takes pride in his field. Would highly recommend to anyone and will be our first point of contact in future.

Everyone stay away from here, without any knowledge of the job what so ever, professionalism at the lowest i have seen. Trying to overcharge for nothing, more damage and lost time than result. In a word DISASTER!!!

Keith is one of the most experienced party wall surveyors in the south of England and is always happy to give his professional advice to fellow colleagues on difficult issues when interpreting the provisions of the Party Wall etc. Act 1996. I have always found him to be very fair and reasonable when acting as my counterpart to agree a Party Wall Award and would have no hesitation in recommending him to act as Third Surveyor.

I cannot recommend Mr Douglas highly enough. He is incredibly knowledgeable, with the smallest details of the Party Wall Act at his fingertips. He is very personable too and makes the whole process interesting and enjoyable.

Keith offered invaluable advice and was extremely professional and quick to reply. Would have no hesitation in using his services in the future.

I have just told Keith not to bother representing me. I appointed him my party wall surveyor mid March. He was very convincing and gave me a good price. He was made aware that we are hoping to do this as fast as possible so we can do our extension asap not having to wait the full two months notice period. Now three and a half months later after long sitting on his bottom and no interest whatsoever, we are right where we started. Neighbor gave their conditions in week one. Even though we disagreed with some of the conditions we did accept them soon after, just so we can start building. We had to almost force him to come and see the house he is representing and that visit was included in the initial price offered. We got no advice or recommendation from him whatsoever, the few times I spoke with him he was lagging the conversation with fancy words, difficult to understand. Hardly ever heard from him. Very quick to invoice, increased the quoted price by almost 50% mentioning the complications with the driveway boundary for which all he did was a plain sketch of who thinks where the boundary is. Whenever I attempt to speak to him about any progress he gives me a fancy answer that means no progress whatsoever because I the surveyor, am doing nothing ... can I remind you about my fees" . If I wanted any question answered I had to go direct to the neighbors surveyor rather then Mr Keith Douglas. If only he was keen to do anything as he is keen to get paid. I strongly feel that any other party wall surveyor and the job would have been done months ago

I cannot believe other reviewers are talking about the same man. Outrageous! When acting for me Mr. Douglas was very knowledgeable and quoted lots of the Act verbatim thus saving time/money as he didn't have to resort to looking it up in a book. He explained to me that his work had to be, by statute, independent. Party wall Surveyors are appointed to make judgment over the entire situation rather than represent a client. It was made clear that any information he requested e.g. Full drawings must be supplied ASAP as these would be necessary for him to make his award. i.e. a delay on my part would cause a delay in the issue of the award.I THOROUGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PARTY WALL SURVEYOR. IF HE TAKES YOUR JOB IT WILL BE IN GOOD HANDS!

Keith was recommended to us and we weren’t disappointed. Even the apparently intransigent was dealt with calmly, professionally, within budget and on time. I have no hesitation in recommending him.
