Lancaster Priory Church of Saint Mary

Beautiful place to enjoy peace, light candles, remember and pray. Lancaster Priory, formally the Priory Church of St Mary, is the Church of England parish church of the city of Lancaster, Lancashire, England. It is located near Lancaster Castle and since 1953 has been designated a Grade I listed building. I would definitely recommend visiting this wonderful Church.

An evening with the kings men Cambridge. These young musicians from Cambridge university are so very talented, I had never heard of them before, my friend got a couple of tickets and I’m so glad I went to see them. So much talent on one stage would love to see them again one day.

I had the pleasure of seeing songs of Sufjan Stevens performed by local and travelling musicians and choirs. 12 songs performed brilliantly and the Priory looking impressive.I just wish it was better illuminated as it's a beautiful Priory church.

This is a lovely old Church in Lancaster and well worth a look if you are nearby. It is located right beside the castle which is on top of a hill, as a lot of castles are, so you need to be reasonably fit to reach it! As you can see from my pictures, it has some impressive stained glass and an interesting looking pipe organ which I would love to hear playing.

Beautiful building with loads of history. We attended a Baptism after Sunday service. Very warm reception from Church Wardens, Vicar and volunteers.

Beautiful church, it only opens Sundays for service of worship, so to look inside you need to go Monday to Saturday when it is open to the general public.

Beautiful church. I've been there at Lancaster Music Festival, where I watched Indian songs being performed and at remembrance Day there was a ceremony to pay respects to those lost in war. It's free to visit, very well preserved, and welcoming. Both times I visited there were artworks in exhibition.At the Cafe you will find a signature of the Queen and prince Charles, also.The grouds are also nice, with great views of the city.

The guided tour at the Lancaster Castle ends at the exit door which opens onto the priory Church.Beautiful stained glass windows, high arches, a war memorial, ornate Church organ & tapestry and embroidered stations of the cross best describe this priory.Our curious exploration or rather urge to cover most landmarks did give us a pleasant surprise.We visited it on a Friday afternoon and revisited it the next day morning to experience the mesmerising performance of flute, obe & piano as part of the priory's coffee concert spring 2022. This is held every Saturday morning at 1030 hours. I believe one can get further details on future musical performances on their website.There is not a lot to do in Lancaster, but if you are in this town on a Saturday morning, do not miss this.The priory's acoustics are worth experiencing and I am hoping each concert will be as enchanting.
